P3Dv3.2 Available
« on: March 08, 2016, 04:00:08 PM »
Lockheed Martin has released P3Dv3.3 and the change log is quite extensive.  The surf is back and things are quite smooth.  I deleted my old client and just downloaded the new client.  Quite painless.  Of course it will break The Orbx Object Flow but I continue to see all the animated characters.  Instant Scenery will need a new dll and ASN is working on theirs.

Thank you Dex.  I'll "wait" on this one. I'm doing a lot of TwitchTV and fixing the Autoroutes for all our flight plans, so don't need any "extra" glitches while doing this. I'm using IS3 all the time. If you hear that IS3 is "caught up" then I'm ready.

When you say client .. are you saying you took out 3.1 and put in 3.2?  Just curious as to your process.

Doug, If you use you windows control panel, and look at the installed programs, you will see that P3D is now broken into separate items, like client, scenery, content.  At L/M you can download the individual parts or do the entire thing.  Just download the client, remove the current one and then install the new.

Dex, I think I'm missing something.  On the download page I see a download for:

Prepar3D_v3_Academic_3.2.3.16769.zip

I download that and hit the "setup" ... it ran and installed. When I then look at the "help/about" page in P3D, I see the attached ... is that correct?  Do I have to "uninstall" P3D first or something?

Doug, just want to share my experience with installing 3.2

In 3.1 installed programs: FTX Global, all NA ORBX Region. All ORBX NA freeware airports. All my RTMM libraries and scenery's ASN REX EZCAM addon aircraft as carenado and Others. AI Shipping for example. Sounds etc.

1- I uninstalled p3d using add/remove programs.

2- installed the full installer of 3.2.

3- started p3d 3.2 and to my surprise everything was there except for FTX Global.

4- reinstall FTX Global

5- everything is working as in 3.1 Except for ASN which I understand a fix can be downloaded...Gotta love that!

The new features I an exploring and love the waves hitting the shores.

Everything took less than one hour.

Must admit 3.2 is a smooth flyer.

That's my story moving up to 3.2. I know mileage may differ.

I just downloaded the client.  I then remove just the old client and then ran the install for the new client.  That worked for me with no problems.

OK, I'll try uninstalling P3D.  That was my problem, I was running "setup" of 3.2 right over the old stuff, doesn't work that way. So I uninstall P3D first, then run the setup.

Dex, I see the Client.mis now ... when you "remove the old client" ... what are you removing?

OK ... I now see the "client" in the Programs and Features.  So I'll uninstall that, then install the client which is a part of the 3.2 download.  Got it. (I couldn't figure out how you were removing the "client" part, now I see it in the programs and features).

... here we go ...

When you go to your Windows Control Panel, uninstall a program, You should see all the P3D apps broken out.  Now you have the ability to uninstall and install the individual parts as you have need.

OK, saw them.  I had put the "new" one in over the "old" one, so things were all screwed up. Took it all out and restarted the computer. Reinstalled .. it crashed on startup, reinstalled again, still crashed on startup. Finally got smart and went to the even logs and Instant Scenery was killing it. Deleted IS3, (the new one), and it came up fine. Put new IS3 in and the ASN 4.1 service pack. Came up OK. I think I'm in business. All seems to be working (fingers crossed). :-)  Thanks for the help!

Success!  I've upgraded to version 3.2.3.16769, and Instant Scenery 3.06.  I took Dex's advice and uninstalled my client portion of P3D.  Then I ran setup.exe from my download package.  I only had the option to download the full package, so I did that.  I saw the Install_Client.msi file, but I ran the setup.exe anyway.  I expected to be presented with checkboxes to add or remove components.  But that never happened.  It installed over the previous version, and replaced the uninstalled client in the process.  It worked fine, and I emptied my shader cache and rebooted my computer.  I've flown around a bit, going across the U.S., back to the west coast from North Carolina, I think (default airport).  I also have the matching SDK installed as well.  I'm glad to have that all behind me now.  Just have to update my signature with a new version number v3.2.  ;)
