Repaints
« on: November 13, 2021, 08:11:05 AM »
I am running latest version of P3Dv5 and Windows 11
Having a problem doing repaints
When it comes to “save” instruction after installing repaint into aircraft cfg I get an instruction that this operation is not allowed ie altering a cfg is not on
Just me finding this or is there a way round?

Right click on the aircraft.cfg and go to properties - attributes. Make the file is not read only and that the file is not in use by the sim.

Not in use by sim or any other app that has the file "locked",  etc.. Easy way to free up a stuck file is shut down the PC and start up again.. then go to you aircraft.cfg and try to play with it.

At a loss now. the only other thing is that maybe it is locked as virus scanner thingy or locked by another app or the aircraft is locked in a protected folder ?

Try: to rename the aircraft.cfg to aircraft.txt , then delete the original aircraft.cfg.
Then rename aircraft.txt to aircraft.cfg.

If that doesn't work, (cause the file is locked or unable to be copied for some reason), open aircraft.cfg with notepad> Copy all of the text in the file.

On your desktop, right click  New> Text document  name it aircraft.txt. Open the file with notepad, paste all of the txt into the file. Save, Close.

Delete the old aircraft.cfg,  On your desktop, rename aircraft.txt to aircraft.cfg and paste that file to it's original folder location.

Or something like that!!
