New server is NOT YET running
« on: May 15, 2011, 08:47:02 AM »
Baby steps.
After much troubles the new server is finally up and running. Getting files to it, is still a bit of a struggle.

But I did put FSHost on it again, and started a session for RTMM.

NOTE: the new server IP address is: 64.186.157.246

Port is 24100, pw is 'doug'.

I will also install TeamSpeak3 on it, but that isn't done yet.

We'll wait for Darryl to re-install the things he did before for RTMM specifically, bit for now the 'regular' RTMM session should be accessible again.

Francois,
tried your IP 64.186.157.246 several times and the only thing I get is server not found error.  Go to that IP on the web and get Parallels Plesk Panel Web Server's Default Page saying that "there is no website at this address"??????

The latter is correct, there is no website on that address. But it should find FSHost running... hmmmmm....

I only have Teamspeak 2.  Are we moving to Teamspeak 3 now?

I think it doesn't make a difference from the client side, but I'll check with ya'll before implementing. Right now I cannot get myself linked to the FSHost session yet...... trying to figure out what is wrong and where....

Ditto.  I didn't bother to scroll down the thread, I just entered the new IP and password, and attempted to connect.  "No session found" came back.  Then I continued reading, to find out you're working on the problem, as I type.  I was just anxious to find out if my new re-install works in Multiplayer.  I'm sure it does, so I'll just wait 'til you get the server up and running.  Thanks for keeping it going, and I hope my donation to the server helps some.  (Everybody donate please!!!  It's only $10)

Quick update:

The darn thing is running fine........ all on its own. I still cannot make anything CONNECT to it. Looking to see if it is a port problem of some kind......

TeamSpeak 3 does require the use of the new Teamspeak 3 client.

When we first started keeping to TS2 seemed a good choice as several pilots mentioned to me
that they were not using TS3.

Setting up TS3 is also a little more challenging on the server side.

I will get to updating the RTMM fshost status page once it is up and running.
Unfortunately I will not have any free time to do so until the weekend.

That's the downside of no longer being semi-retired.

I think it doesn't make a difference from the client side, but I'll check with ya'll before implementing. Right now I cannot get myself linked to the FSHost session yet...... trying to figure out what is wrong and where....

And not only is my time limited, my Internet cable to the street is said to be damaged, so some days I hardly have any connection at all, while other days it screams at 50 Mbps..... no need telling that on the 'screaming days' I have to catch up work.

Semi-retired eh? That must've been nice :-) I reckon  the word retired will enter my vocabulary around 75. :-)

Meanwhile, no luck with that bloody server yet :(

Francois,
had an idea but it did not pan out.  What port is the server using?  I have enabled ports 95, 96 in my Firefox browser using the procedures in the PDF so seeing the 24100 port number in your data I thought perhaps port 100 was being used.  As Firefox blocks all but port 80 in normal use I adjusted my ports to include 95,96, and 100 but still no joy connecting to the host server.   :'( :'(
If the server is using another port than the default or one of the three I have enabled then one would not be able to gain access.

Of course it doesn't use the default ports, that would be too easy ;-) But I tried all the ports and other stuff, and it still isn't accessible. I am now trying to figure out if there is anything on the host's side that is blocking outgoing traffic. Unfortunately I have a LOT of work currently, running a few new projects and some old ones AND trying to sell a few copies in the on-line shop..... when it rains it pours, eh?

The RTTM remote port is 79, and 24100 for FSX.

Still problems..... this is taking part of my life by now  ;D   I cannot log in to it myself and have filed another trouble ticket just now.
