Jan de Jong's Vessels
« on: May 12, 2021, 06:33:49 PM »
Jan de Jong has adapted the RTMM vessels and they may be available pending a management decision.  Sorry to have "jumped the gun" on this.

Is this in addition to Henrik Nielsen's Ships?  Any conflicts?

I am sure that Henrik doesn't have any Tongass ships in his fleet.  If you are worried, don't install the package.

Suspect that ships in Jan's package would be different ships than Henrick's package. The only thing might be the timing and routes/tracks of the ships - there could be a visual hit or close miss if you happen to be at the right place at the right time but really I doubt it!  Those captains might be in a heap of trouble but that wouldn't cause any type of sim conflict!! lol.
There is nothing like having ships in the sim to create the world atmosphere.!!

The ships won't collide although when involved in collision avoidance, one could run aground.  I haven't seen any problems.  Jan and I have been testing this for awhile and haven't encountered any problems.

Hi Dex,

Thanks!  I have only spotted one cruise ship at Sitka so far (see pic below).  It looks great!  Thanks to you and Jan.

That would have been a nice thing for RTMM to host on the new FS2020 Enhancements page.

There has still alot to do, like adjusting the old AlaskaMarinetraffic files, there are a few but have 300 more to adjust and that will take some time, so you will not seeing all off the vessels from the package. :(
But on the other side they all are in MSFS standard style so you don' t get another .... .CVT folder in the Community.
At Dusk or Dawn you can see some nice reflections and the colours off the vessels will depending on the weather.  ;)

You will see some vessels from BC up too Juneau.

The orignal FS2020 File that Dex accidentally posted a bit ahead of time included a few extra files that don't belong there and was not yet ready for release.  This package will not be available to our general users until we announce the new FS2020 part of our website which is currently under construction.

If you did download the original package from the first post in this thread when it was accidentally available, you can continue to use it but please delete that package and install the new one when it becomes available .

Thanks,

Rod
