Flight Plan storage in MSFS
« on: April 21, 2021, 12:57:36 PM »
I am finally starting to try to use MSFS and want fly the PAKT-PAJN flight plan.  Where does MSFS store flight plans and how do I get this flight plan into MSFS?

Save (Stored) MSFS FP are located in Hidden Folder:

C:\Users\yourname_\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState

but these are flt format.

To Load a regular FP in .pln  format, just navigate to where you keep your Flight plans and load it in MSFS (using the save/load on the botto of the world map - or if you have a Fp .pln already created-navigate to your folder and select it and it will load in MSFS.  You can also create a new flight (FLT format), in MSFS itself from the world map - select departure PAKT  then arrival location PAJN, and it will load - then select FLY.  Or you can build one in Plan G or Little Nav map, and export it as a FP for MSFS format, then load it from the save/load button on the world map in MSFS.

Actually, there is no new process at all in building or loading a FP in MSFS than it was in previous sims).

Thanks Norm.  I got it in and flew it.  Do you have a special folder for your MSFS plans?

Yep, keep them on my data/documents Drive in their own FP Folder >> all sorted with sub-folders:
(I keep MFC tours, tour #.

IE:
D:\documents\FP-Tours \0. MFC \MFS0001\2. FP (.pln)
D:\documents\FP-Tours \0. MFC \MFS0015\2. FP (.pln)
D:\documents\FP-Tours \0. MFC\MFS0052\2. FP (.pln) etc
(The 0. Keep them at the top)

And the rest of my FP sorted I try to keep sorted by continent\country\state-province(for North America) for the most part. The FP for the rest of the world I have so sorted only by continent\country

IE:
D:\Documents\FP-Tours\MSFS\Africa\Morocco
D:\Documents\FP-Tours\MSFS FP\Asia\Nepal
D:\Documents\FP-Tours\MSFS FP\North America\Canada\BC
D:\Documents\FP-Tours\MSFS FP\North America\USA\Alaska\
D:\Documents\FP-Tours\MSFS FP\North America\USA\Washington
D:\Documents\FP-Tours\MSFS FP\Europe\Austria
D:\Documents\FP-Tours\MSFS FP\Europe\Croatia
D:\Documents\FP-Tours\MSFS FP\Oceania\Australia\
D:\Documents\FP-Tours\MSFS FP\Oceania\New Zealand\
D:\Documents\FP-Tours\MSFS FP\South America\Brazil

(Same folder structure for the older FSX/P3D FP;.. but slowly checking and/converting them for usability in 2020.
