MSFS2020 CTD
« on: January 03, 2021, 11:54:54 PM »
Hi all, I recently acquired MSFS2020 (with Norms help).  Still working at getting setup and flying.  Today I tried to setup a flt from KRNT Renton, WA.  It almost loaded then CTD.  This was in event viewer:

- <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">
- <System>
  <Provider Name="Application Error" />
  <EventID Qualifiers="0">1000</EventID>
  <Level>2</Level>
  <Task>100</Task>
  <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords>
  <TimeCreated SystemTime="2021-01-04T03:19:46.070939400Z" />
  <EventRecordID>14602</EventRecordID>
  <Channel>Application</Channel>
  <Computer>Johnsputer</Computer>
  <Security />
  </System>
- <EventData>
  <Data>FlightSimulator.exe</Data>
  <Data>0.0.0.0</Data>
  <Data>5fda32ba</Data>
  <Data>FlightSimulator.exe</Data>
  <Data>0.0.0.0</Data>

  <Data>Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.12.13.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe</Data>
  <Data>App</Data>
  </EventData>
  </Event>

Can anyone help me out?  Very lost at this point  :'(

Hi John,

In the application section of the Windows 10  event viewer, when you click on an error you should get a report that starts like this:

Faulting application name: FlightSimulator.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x5fc94fca
Faulting module name: FlightSimulator.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x5fc94fca
Exception code: 0xc0000005
etc.

I am not sure where you got the information you posted but you should have data like the example above.  Can you post that?

I don't remember checking windows version or if your gpu/driver or if the drivers were up to date.. but check/do that first.  (Community folder is empty- this was a brand new install).

Here is a couple links on trying to fix/stop CTD.

(Faulting application name: FlightSimulator.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x5fda32ba)

Document LINK: https://thedroidguy.com/fix-microsoft-flight-simulator-2020-crashing-1137821

Turn down everything to low John. (And turn off other items possible that may be running in the background). Remember during the MSFS2020 install, it advised that the minimum requirements were not met. That might have something to do with the CTD.

But starts with w10 updates if any, GPU driver updates. (Get the environment updated if not done). MFSF2020 did install, (with warning), but your pc may not have the power to run it.

I'll be around this afternoon or tomorrow afternoon I think so can give you a hand. I'll watch for you on discord (@1230ish your local time).

HI John,

Good advice from Norm.  That is the info I was looking for.  That type of crash has a number of reasons.  Some of the most common are GPU drivers not up to date and allocated virtual memory too small especially if you only have 16gb main memory.

Do you have any mods on your community folder?

I found that mods can cause CTD’s.  I always only install one at a time. Start UP MSFS and make sure all is still running well before installing another.

No add-ons in the community folder.. brand new install. pc is a tad shy on resources. Perhaps if GPU driver updated might have a chance? (GTX 1080)
