A2A propeller solid disc
« on: December 12, 2020, 07:52:09 AM »
Hello,

I have this problem with my A2A aeroplanes:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/4wtzl34ivtsmkig/A2A-Prop.jpg?dl=0

The C172 only shows the disc when facing from front, the V35 also from back, from inside the cockpit. Could be related to 5.1HF1, this problem was not there in 5.1.

Anyone has an idea?

Thank you,
Karl

Hi Karl,

That kind of problem can show up if the aircraft's compiled code used an older SDK.  Since this problem doesn't show up for anybody else (assume you checked that), you need to make sure that you are using the latest version of A2A's aircraft for P3Dv5.1 HF1.

Have you redownloaded the correct A2A package from A2A to make sure the version you are using is the proper version?

Other than that, not sure what could be causing it.

I checked for updates after installing HF1. But I'll check again.

Thank you Rod,

The A2A updater for the V35 says: "Your software is up to date". I will try to un- and reinstall.

Hi Karl,

I don't know how A2A works but make sure your a2a c172 SimObject folder (or whatever it is called) is completely gone after the uninstall so you don't leave any old files behind before you reinstall.

A un- and reinstall did it. It shows the same version number as before, but now it's ok.

Thx,

Unfortunately reinstalling didn't help with the prop of the Cub.

Here is the cured V35:

And here the Cub after reinstalling it. Same as before, solid disk from front.

I will contact A2A suppoet. Maybe I'm just missing something simple.

That is really weird.......

It seems like it would be a bad .mdl file or prop texture issue.

Rod

Or it could be a texture draw problem with aplpha values, transparency or Z-Buffer.

When I have a solid disc prop, I find that flipping the alpha channel (usually) fixes it.  Use DXT2BMP tool for working with the alpha channel.   ;)
