Hi Dan,

Is there a version for the analog C172.  I don't fly glass.

Rod
Hmm, sorry, I'm not entirely sure what you mean.   Can you provide some more detail?  There was only one C172 as far as I know (that I have access to).

(edit: oh wait, I thought you said grass not glass.   :o   Do you mean the instrument panels?   If that's what you mean, is it possible to change the non-repaint version to analog?   If not, then it's just part of the plane I believe, and I am not able to change that in the livery.)

Hi Dan,

There are two C172 planes in the Premium Deluxe version of MSFS2020.  One with G1000 Glass cockpit and one with anlaog instruments.   Your livery is for the G1000 but do you think it would also work for the analog version which looks to me to be the same plane with different cockpit instruments?

What do you think?

Technically you should be able to make it work, since the instruments are referenced in a relative manner back to the games "official" files, and not in the repaint folders.   I don't have the deluxe edition, I'm only using the gamepass version with standard, so I'm not able to test this for you.

Hi Dan,

Checked it out and it turns out the analog c172 has a similar layout as the C172 G1000 but it does not contain an aircraft.cfg file.  It does however contain a Texture folder like the C172 G1000.  I was hoping its file structure would be like the C172 G1000 but apparently not.  Without an aircraft.cfg, it is possible it is not meant to get a livery change but, more than likely, I don't know how to do it.

The C172 G1000 does look good in its new colors but unfortunately I won't be flying it.

Thanks,

Rod

Bummer, yeah without seeing how it's laid out, it's tough for me to get that to work.

Which other planes are people flying?  I was probably going to take a crack at a couple of other simple repaints.

The ones I have access to in the standard edition are:

    A320neo
    Pitts Special S2S
    747-8 Intercontinental
    XCub
    TBM 930
    DA62
    DA40 NG
    EXTRA 330LT
    Flight Design CTSL
    ICON A5
    VL-3
    CAP 10
    DR400-400 Cadet
    Beechcraft Bonanza G36
    Beechcraft King Air 350i
    Cessna 152
    Cessna 172 Skyhawk (G1000)
Cessna 208 B Grand Caravan EX
    Cessna Citation CJ4
    Savage Cub

Dan,

Just read that the  premium aircraft (like the C172 SP) are encrypted so that is why I can't see the aircraft.cfg.  Guess Asobo is planning to sell liveries for those planes.

Ah, that makes sense, or you could just share them and negate the different packages.  It also makes sense why the only template files I'm finding are all for the standard edition planes only.

OK Dexter, Doug was interested in the IconA5 as well so I started poking at that one last night, I'll probably post some preliminary pics later.

I'll take a look at the XCub as well, xxd09.

I should probably make a new thread for general repaints so I don't derail the 172 more.  :P
