Just waiting...MSFS 2020 is close...am I alone?
« on: August 17, 2020, 11:14:45 AM »
Well as ready as I can be for the release of MSFS 2020 or as Dex says: FSXX.

Upgraded my CPU and RAM to 32GB, a 3rd EVO ssd just for MSFS 2020 and a new Motherboard to plug everything into and not to mention my Dell 36 inch Ultra Sharp monitor.

As of a few days back got some Corsair water cooling for my Ryzen9 3900X all with RGB on board...sweet.

As luck would have it even my new Thrustmaster TCA arrived today. :)

...yes just waiting and I feel like a kid trying to sleep on Christmas eve at the moment.

Only missing my GFX card which I feel will be out sooner than expected, maybe September.

I tell you something. I installed 18 hours ago at midnight 18th in Austria. Since then I'm flying.

It's nice.

But P3D with RTMM is nicer. At the time beeing. Until RTMM works in MSFS maybe?

I will for sure fly the new sim in some distant areas, like Africa or South America, but P34D is still nice.

But right now i will fly another leg for RTMM in P3D.

I checked Quartz Creek.

Check it out. RTMM is the way to go still.

I always knew that FS2020 would not handle Alaska well because of the lack of OSM data, aerial maps etc.   That is why Orbx did not build Alaska TrueEarth.

The Cooper Landing area,  for example,  around Quartz Creek Airport (JLA) is incredibly better with P3Dv5, SAK and The Western Chugach when compared to FS2020.   I don't see any thoughts of building scenery in FS2020 in most of the main RTMM flying areas in the near future.   And, so far I have not found an SDK to look at.  Has anybody found where the SDK is?

That said, FS2020 is absolutely gorgeous in metropolitan areas ....incredible!   That will be my sim of choice outside of RTMM areas, and the Orbx TrueEarth areas.

Nothing is wrong with with P3D, is it?

Nice. And smooth. MSFS isn't smooth. I have a descent rig, but the new sim isn't smooth. I could not get it into Nvidia Control Panel to da an external 30Hz sync. MS would not allow to access the .exe.

And although my PC does more than 40 fps at "Ultra", it isn't smooth. Tweaking Vsync and going from 60 to 30 fps didn't help either.

To bad about your smoothness issue Karl.

We have about the same rig except your 2080 card is much better than my 1080 GTX. I am running on High settings with a few setting  bumped to Ultra and am amazed at what is produced with smoothnes and that is in HD. I have installed the new GeForce drivers that came out on the 17th.

Maybe not all of Alaska is up to par but dang it´s nice anyway, Took off from PASI and again amazed at what appears on my screen.

...can someone show me or explain the difference between ORBX TE and and what MFS produces in the same area.
I do know TE offers 3D autogen and I can think loads more but I would like to know what in comparing to real life flying.

Maybe I am so positive about MSFS because of my internet connection. I hear it´s part of a good experience with it.

One needs to remember that many sims on the market today have been around for MANY years with MANY updates already in them to make them what they are today... But holy moly  what a brilliant start start for MSFS...although a bit buggy

I found the issue. THe problem was SPAD.neXt. I'm using it for my Saitek boxes in P3D. It starts with Windows and is alway running.

When I quit it, MSFS runs smoothly on Ultra.

Running Good for me.  Everything Ultra.  I bought KORS for $7.00 and it installed smoothly.  Went to KORS in the C-172 (analog panel) and was pulling 95 FPS.  During alpha I was usually getting 65.  This is just the beginning.

Not waiting and couldn't care less !

Microsoft 'Sold-Out' and 'Divorced' the flight sim community before and I for one, still haven't forgotten.  NOW, they decide to get back in the game and we're all supposed to run out to buy it and cheer. LMAO.
Why didn't they do the development then instead of walking away from it ?

Thank goodness L.M. picked up the 'Dropped Ball' and moved forward with P3D !  If I ever have to leave P3D behind I'll be going to X-Plane before ever giving another 'Nickel' to Microsoft.
