AI traffic - where do you store it?
« on: May 09, 2020, 07:12:22 AM »
Quick question: do you have the traffic BGLs in one folder combined (RTMM->Scenery->world->Scenery) or do you keep it in their respective subscenere folders?

I realized that I have duplicate AI traffic at some locations. Some traffic .bgl files are double in my RTMM installation and I want to clean up.

Hi Karl,

Many of our sceneries put the traffic BGLs inside the specific scenery folder.  Some of our sceneries (e.g. AI Shipping Package) put the traffic BGLs in Scenery\World\Scenery.   It depends on the scenery addon's design as to how the traffic BGL is being used.

Some of our traffic BGLs are seasonal and will not work with the eSwitcher if they are put in Scenery\World\Scenery.  If all of your RTMM sceneries are up to date, there should not be any Seasonal sceneries in Scenery\World\Scenery   Bottom line, you need to follow each scenery's installation instructions.

If you do a search and find the same traffic .bgl in two different folders, then most likely one of the folders is a regular scenery addon folder and one of them is Scenery\World\Scenery.  Normally, I would then get rid of the one in Scenery\World\Scenery.   When in doubt, consult the latest version of a particular scenery addon's installation instructions from our Scenery Library to see where the traffic BGL (s) belongs.

You are correct that you should not have the same traffic BGL existing in more than one place.

Thank you Rod, that makes it pretty clear.

I was typing my reply - just as Rod posted.

But anyways - this is what i did and it works perfect and here is the detail on it.

I yanked every traffic Bgl out of all the single folders - EXCEPT the ones that have variations to AI traffic based on seasonal options. (So you have to leave the seasonal ones in their respective folders so when/if you change the season then those AI traffic files (amount of AI traffic) will also change to match the season).

Those seasonal Ai Traffic bgl files that should stay in their respective scenery folders are located in:
Black Rapids Lodge
Fairbanks AI Floats
Halibut Cove
Hollis Harbor
Lake Louise Lodge
Landmark Gap Resort
TWChugach- Part 1
TWChugach- Part 2

The rest of them I decided to put them into their own separate scenery-world-scenery folder and set them at to fire as "layer 3's" where they should be loaded (which is the equivalent to the sim scenery-world-scenery layer/ (Root SIM >scenery-world-scenery folder.)

     <AddOn.Component>
       <Category>Scenery</Category>
     <Path>Scenery\world\scenery</Path>
   <Name>World AI traffic RTMM</Name>
       <Layer>3</Layer>
     </AddOn.Component>

So have all the single AI traffic files in that one folder (since I run all of them!). But the seasonal ones stay in their designed scenery folders (which are always enabled when flying in RTMM Territory), so that those AI traffic variations can be controlled by the seasonal scenery switcher switching the seasonal scenery files as well as the seasonal AI traffic files.

So that's the way I have done mine and it works perfect.

Perfect, Norm!

ORBX uses even layer 2 for their NA GA traffic.

While cleaning up my RTMM AI traffic I found that several traffic .bgl files reference the following airplane:

Maule M7 260C N260CMM BWEP SKI

But there is no simobject with that title. Anyone knows where I can find it?

On the BWEP aircraft Page - There is a BWEP texture for the Maule - and that is the title being called:

" Maule M7 260C N260CMM BWEP SKI"

BWEP PAGE LINK: https://return.mistymoorings.com/bwep/index.php#Maintenance

Items. 11 and 12.  (by Klaus Tröppner.)

11. Maule M7 - SKI - DEFAULT
12. Maule M7 - WHEELS - DEFAULT

So just set them up in your default Maule and Maule Ski - (and just check the the titles match).. And good to go!.
