BWEP
« on: May 07, 2020, 02:12:43 PM »
I'm a bit unsure about my BWEP installation. Should I see something here when flying over it?

Like is that supposed to be the port of Valdez? Sure looks like it!! so if you have the BWEP installed (and correctly) - with SAK, You should be able to find the following:

If all these are no show - them BWEP at Valdez is not correctly set up in v5.
Heading there now to take a peeks. Meet at Valdez Pioneer!! (Heading to MFC Discord Voice comms Channel!)

Norm, thank you. I checked, all 10 towers are there. So, it looks like BWEP is installed ok.

There is, though, a spot named V109 (Vessel?). I searched for it and found it in the file V109_ADEP3_DWT.bgl in BWEP/Scenery. What is it for? There's no visual evidence when flying over it.

That sounds like one of Dex's AI boats.  Most likely an oil tanker (Exxon Valdez ;)), but I am just guessing.  I have to go take a look now.   ;D

Yep that is one of Dex's ai ships in the port of Valdez. If you don't have the ship and specific livery with the correct title in the sim you won't see it at all. Follow Dexs' instructions to the letter and you might see it.. not sure if it's a static or has a schedule clock for movement.

It really looks like I'm missing the simobjects for the BWEP ships. V109 is a ship named BWEP_Tanker. I cannot find it. I again downloaded all BWEP zips, but no Ships in there.

Where can I get those ships?

Norm, do you see V109 in your sim (see my first 2 posts in this thread).

Thx,
Karl

Dex Thomas would have to confirm (as I'm sure not an AI guy) but

from looking at the file - V109_ADEP3_DWT.bgl >> It calls a ship   > title=BWEP_Tanker
and displays it in - United States -  Alaska  - Valdez

"BWEP_Tanker" is the key here.

So on the BWEP Page - went down to the boats/Ships section:

https://return.mistymoorings.com/bwep/index.php#boatsandships
(but that only contains a repaint! ARG and not the actual BOAT.)

In the repaint readme it says " This is a repaint for the freeware addon-ship FSX Oil-tanker from FSshipyards.com. "

Tried to go to the FSshipyards.com - SITE IS DEAD!

I have it in my files but it is pre p3dv4x (Not an fsx native model) so definitely not installed.
So now will looking for an FSX native model of a tanker we can call "BWEP_Tanker" to make it fire without crashing P3Dv4x and above.

Checking online..

Found one at flyawaysimulation.com but is the same one I have.. old model (MDL8MDLH)..

Anyways - all to say.. Nope stand by. Will continue to look for a FSX native compatible oil tanker!!

---- in the mean time - just use a default boat - Found one that should be suitable.

>> Boats >> Super_tanker_sm

Open that Sim.cfg file and add

[fltsim.1]
title=BWEP_Tanker
model=
texture=

Should work I think: when Dexter's file (V109_ADEP3_DWT.bgl) calls the "BWEP_Tanker" in Valdez - this ship titled "BWEP_Tanker" should appear ?? - (Just don't know when!- that would depend what times are in the traffic file) Anyways, going to fire up sim and try it.

Most of this stuff was made pre-p3dv4x so these references to old ships models etc that don't have FSX native modelling won't/can't ever be used in P3Dv4x/5x (without adverse affects). (They can be used in FS9/FSX, P3Dv1v2 and v3 sims but am sure anyone that has progressed out of those sims (v4/v5) sure won't be reverting back to them.

Norm, thank you! I will also take a look. I have the Ship package from Nielsen. Maybe I find something there.

No success. No matter what I try, ships don't show up.

As an example: shoudln't I see something here? A Ferry? It's HKC1 and belongs to Hollis Harbour. The .bgl file is HKC1_ADEX_DWT.bgl. There is also a second file named HKC1_ADEX_DWT_NoFish.bgl

HKC1_ADEX_DWT.bgl and HKC1_ADEX_DWT_NoFish.bgl  are for static simobjects I think.  he files you have identified might be static traffic.

The actual traffic files for AI moveable traffic are the Traffic*.bgl files. In Hollis Harbor, I see AI traffic files (for both boats and float planes) and the traffic files in this scenery have seasonal variances for seasonal AI operation of boats as well as floats (planes).  Moveable AI traffic has "times of operation" set in the traffic files so they will show/call the vessels to appear and operate within certain time periods. (Static objects are just that - they are static and should show in the sim at all times at the location specified.).

So I have some boats and some ai aircraft flying around at Hollis.

PS:
Now if there are any FS9 type files in your P3Dv4x/v5x sim or in any of your add-ons, this may be preventing ALL AI traffic from being displayed in your sim at any location which sounds like this could be a possibility as you appear to have no AI traffic showing at all.  Would assume that P3D traffic sliders for boats and Aircraft traffic sliders are turned up a bit to enable AI traffic?

Perhaps Rod could explain the traffic at this location and Dex maybe might shed some light on the static
AI traffic? which might help troubleshoot your lack of AI traffic at this and perhaps at other locations Karl.
Do you have any ai showing at any location?
