Cigar Box
« on: November 10, 2019, 03:37:56 PM »
Norm,

Sorry I am going to have to give up on Cigar Box as it is becoming too much hassle to get it to work.  Tried all ways for half an hour today plus the method that usually works and no joy.  I cannot keep submitting manual PIREPS so until a future version comes out that I can get to work I will have to stop flying the Misty flights.  I will keep in the club if I may and hopefully be back in the air sometime soon.

Simon

Although we get false non-completions from Cigar Box when filing pireps at time, in which they actually are immediately filed on submission, normally there is no connection issues or startup issues. Something is blocking your Cigar Box install or it's installed a protected folder.  Still thinking your virus scanner or malware app is eating your Cigar Box and preventing it from operation. Perhaps your FSUICP is not installed correctly - We have been over this a few times - something is preventing your Cigar Box or connections from working.

Henry is there any more assistance that can be offered?

Most of my PIREPs fail via Cigar box dialog, but if you go over to the Web Browser tab in Cigar box in the Pilot Center, Viwe PIREPs they are OK waiting for approval.

Yes the dialog shows failed (which is a the response from the site due to pilots/module calculations). (We don't have an adjustment in Cigar Box to compensate for the increased time for the site to calculate: this due to the thousands of pireps in the system but even though this condition exists, the pireps for all the pilots are always forwarded upon send and are immediately received by the site.

Simon has a bigger problem of system connection through firewall or antivirus or something on his system else that is preventing Cigar Box from either correctly starting up or from maintaining connectivity to the site.

There is only two cases I know of where there are these issues with cigar box, both in Europe: one being Simon in the UK and the other being a pilot in Spain.

Indeed, no problem Simon and our comrade pilot from Spain sure helped in this regard. Glad your somewhat recording again. Hope the virus scanner or firewall blockage problem of Cigar Box gets rectified but in the mean time the other app seems to be working just fine.

Hopefully the man from the Security Firm has rectified the problem but I wont be able to let you know for a couple of days.  He spent a wee while on it and then had to send it upstairs for further examination.
