Misplaced Ferry or Ferry Accident ?
« on: November 18, 2019, 04:34:09 AM »
On my way to Coal Hbr SPB I found this ferry on landside. I am not sure if it should be there...

That is a default ferry and should not be there.  The only way to eliminate that, delete the default ferry objects.

The ferry drivers up there are a little reckless. These are AI ferries put in by ORBX...nothing we can control. Dex is correct, that's the best way to get rid if them. I fly by them and just think they need more training and fly-on. :-)

Nice to have some ferry's in the sim arelthough in this case we need a new captain for this vessel as we fired the previous one for obvious reasons!!  (I know.. tis not very helpful in finding the root cause (or route cause) but .. anyways).lol.. Will take a trip over to Coal Hbr Spb and take a looks!!

Perhaps you are thinking of Lockheed Martin since they are default objects.

Different platform but same ferries, same drunk drivers, same problems. :-)

This actually happened to one of the Alaska Marine Highway Ferries (Taku I think).
They were making the turn to go into Prince Rupert and ran smack up into an island.
I tried google to see if I could find the picture but so far no luck...
It was a while back...
Bob

found a write-up of the "incident" but no pictures:

The Taku also suffered an even worse accident in 1970, when it ran aground on West Kinihan Island near Prince Rupert after missing the turn into the harbor. Photos of the time show the vessel with its bow up into the trees on the small island. Passengers and most of the vehicles were offloaded onto the Canadian ferry Queen of Prince Rupert, and for time it was thought the Taku might capsize, but it was safely pulled off the island and went to drydock under its own power.

That's "Ferry2" in (Prepare 3D v4\SimObjects\Boats) running between Coal Harbor and Quatsino /Indian settlement.
The schedule is in trafficBoats.bgl.
As Dex already wrote to avoid this average you can only delete this object (or ignore it)
Many greetings
Dieter
