Trouble with set up
« on: October 03, 2019, 05:58:16 PM »
I changed PC and went to steam and I;m trying to install the required objects. I think I have the test object installed (maybe not) and I'm not seeing anything at PANT - not even the default items so I guess I don't have the tool installed. I only have Part I installed.

Do I need to install all 4 before the test tool shows any objects.

Here is my file structure and priority:

Yes.. RTMM Object Libs Parts 1-2-3-4 must be in place as well as the Effects.

FTX insertion point: Entries go below RTMM Libs part 1.

(Tongass  on your scenery pic - is missing the Tongass lower Priority folder

Tongass Higher should be right above Tongass Lower. AND
in FTX Central - set OpenLC entries to be right below Tongass Lower.

Thanks!

I did find the objects, but about a 1000' further out in the woods instead of on the runway. The sun went down and I could see the "porch lights." If your autogen is above Normal you can't see them from the runway. I'd guess they may be moved with a later install. So the tester can see Step 1, but it is not located properly.

BTW Step 8 on getting_started table has the first part of the order:

RTMM Scenery Folders ... the scenery locations you download from RTMM
RTMM Library Folders ... the Object Library folders you downloaded from RTMM
FTX (ORBX) entries ... ORBX Entries (See FTX Central Discussion below)
Tongass X Higher Priority ... from the Tongass X Installation
Tongass X Lower Priority ... from the Tongass X Installation
ORBX!OPENLC (if you have it) (See FTX Central Discussion below)

-------

Should I rename my RTMM folder-RTMM Scenery? I've seen a few different names. Will the season switcher/other tools be able to find/config the folder?

Looks like we need a RTMM Objects folder as well

Got help from Norm and his master library - excellent approach IMO.

I purchased Orbx PFJ and the tester objects are now on the edge of the runway as expected.

Good Bob, so if all is good at PANT, pop in some of the add-on scenery and you'll be ready to explore the area  but it expands and is a huge area hence piles of scenery: A very rugged, scenic and interesting area to explore.

Norm,
What's your "master library" approach to things?

Not much of an approach but does save a bit of time and takes out some of the complexity. Just before the summer made myself a RTMM libs type master backup zip which contains the libs-pre-assembled. I lost my PC (thanks to Microsoft updates which destroyed a couple of my multiple drives) and had to do everything again: sim and all. When I redid the libs made a copy and zipped it up so I wouldn't have to assemble them all again and if a potential RTMM user is having any problems getting the libs in and working can better assist.
