vancouver island Port Eliza airstrip
« on: September 15, 2019, 02:57:36 PM »
Hi all,
I have installed the enhancements for Vancouver Island in  P3Dv4.
I visited some of the scenery, very nice!
But I have been flying around for some time trying to find the Eliza airstrip as mentioned in the readme.
Alas to no avail.
Can somebody give me a pointer how to find the strip?

Thanks in advance,

Gert57

Port Eliza is an "unlisted" strip and has no ICAO code. The strip is not part of "Vancouver Project North Island" scenery  but comes with Orbx PNW.
Here are the coordinates:
N49° 53.16'
W127° 9.16'

Btw, you can easily find this airfield  (and other unlisted strips) by downloading my waypoint file "PNW.csv". Just import it to PlanG or LittleNavMap. The airstrip will be marked then on the map.

Is this Eliza Island, WA93?  It is in Bellingham Bay, near my home.  A 1500' grass strip on a tiny island.

https://airportguide.com/airport/info/WA93

... coordinates don't match. (48-39-10.6000N 122-35-09.3200W)  There must be two Eliza's.   ???

Found it! (on Google Earth)  It is a wide, straight section of road.  It is on Northwest Vancouver Island.   ::)

Brad's work, I presume ...

Thanks all for the reply.
Dieter, I found the airport with your PNW.csv file. Nice! However, when I read the readme with the project, it states positively that Eliza is one of the destinations. And in the scenery folder there are some bgl files for the Eliza airport!! So I feel there might be a misunderstanding what is part of the project!?! Can you clarify??
Jeff: indeed I think there are two airports with the same name!

Greetings, Gert57

In the "Vancouver Project North Island" scenery created by Brad Allen you find 5 season files for changing the seasons.
The strip itself coming from Orbx PNW is just the dirt runway.
The file called "Port Eliza Airstrip Objects.bgl" in "Vancouver Project North Island" scenery puts some objects into this PNW dirt strip.
Many greetings

Hi Dieter,
Now I understand.
The strip itself was present, the North Vancouver project has put in some enhancements.
Thanks for the clarification.
Also thanks for your nice work with all the places which now can be seen in Plan-G!!
Greetings,
