Misty's Place
« on: September 13, 2019, 10:31:05 PM »
All Ground areas are totally black.  Rest of the scenery appears OK.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom,
I've a few questions for ya.

1)  How extensive is the blackness?
2)  How far out does it cover, and what is at the center of the black area.
3)  Does it move as/when you do, or is it stationary?
4)  How much RAM do you have installed?

On my older system, the ground tiles would be slow to load at times.  Do yours load in if you wait?  Does it help if you lower your texture resolution settings?

So many questions.  ???   :P

... also,
-  what sim are you using?
-  Have you recently done something, like upgrade Orbx Central, etc?
-  Are your "insertion points" set correctly?

Lets see if I can provide some more info.  My basic system is Win 10 and I am running basic FSX. I have a high end system with lots of memory.  Misty's place detail is all there except the ground is black.  There is green grass growing up thru the black.  All of the Misty building are there with smoke rising from the chimneys.  I can take off from the runway and see blue water to the left from the canal.  As soon as I reach the end of the runway and am past the lighthouse the water turns blue.  The ground is only black where Misty's is located.  I have Required Object libraries  I,II,III and IV installed.  I also have a lot of scenery installed.

I have Tongass Fjords, Pacific Fjords,  Pacific Northwest and SAK installed.  I fly into Ketchikan and all of the scenery is there.  I am running my FPS at 20 -40FPS with no problem.

Misty's used to be running fine then the ground turned black.  I have deleted it and the original file and then downloaded a new file and reinstalled. I am not sure what else I can add.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Tom,
Slew up to about 2,000 feet AGL and pan around Misty's. Is the ground still black? You mention that when taking off, the water in the canal looks OK, and when you reach the lighthouse the water turns blue. What does the water look like when you slew up and pan around? My initial guess is that your ground textures are very slow to load for some reason.

Another thing to try is to go to the FSX settings/graphics menu, wait a second, and then exit back to FSX. Does it return immediately, or does it sit there and "think" for a while? If it sits and "thinks", and then returns to FSX, does the ground look normal now?
