Cigar Box Connection Problem
« on: July 27, 2019, 10:11:39 AM »
I am unable to load Cigar Box.  Keeps showing Login Connection Error saying ' Unable to read data from Transport connection.  The connection was closed.'

Make sure you have FSUIPC installed. (Free edition is enough) and also temporaily disable any virus protection or any shield you might have running in the background just while you're using the cigar box application.

Aye.. MFC site is up and running with no apparent issues.. except perhaps crossing the Atlantic cause it is a very windy day over here.

It has until today been working OK.  Tried with virus protection off and uninstalled and done a clean re-install and still no joy.  Can I submit manual PIREPS till I can get this sorted please.

Ok.. firewall might be blocking connection or windows system blocking especially if in a windows protected folder.

Uninstall cigar box,
Reinstall cigar box into your documents folder.( Or to another  non-protected folder).
Reinstall fsuipc.

Don't know what antivirus your using but turn off
When trying the reinstalled cigar box.

When you start cigar box, start and set to run as administrator and make sure you allow or ok the prompt to let cigar box through the firewall.
If you can't connect turn off your firewall.
Like our cigar box worked only 12hrs ago so something must have changed which prevented cigar box from starting and/or connecting.

Right. Followed your instructions several times and it failed to work.  Tried again and it worked/started.  Came out and tried to start it and failed for same reasons as before.  Tried again and it worked.  Did flight but sim/PC froze and had to reboot.  Cigar Box failed for same reasons as before.  Went to bed.  Tried again this morning and managed to get it working by re-installing again.  Did flight.  You have the PIREP.  Just tried to start Cigarbox and failed for same reason as before.

Evey little connection error will show up unless you turn them off. These are all sorts of misc errors:any stutters on your PC or site stutters or your internet provider packets etc.. You can go into cigar box settings and turn off (uncheck) the error messages and they won't show. Most are non critical in nature but will still generate an error message.

In your case Simon, something appears to be blocking your exe start up. Again set cigar box to run as administrator and try turning off your antivirus and firewall to test this.
