Grumman G44
« on: November 11, 2020, 09:43:36 AM »
I just flew a leg with the Widgeon from Flightsimware. I fly this plane as a model airplane. It has a span of 130cm (51") and a weight (ready for take off) of 1950g (4300lb).

Here are the screenshots.

The gear on the model airplane is just painted. I can fly it on water, of course, but on a grass strip I have to throw it. I can land it then on the fuselage.

Your model plane looks beautiful!!!
Very nice paint shop....I like it.

Interesting you have floatplane model plane....I guess there much of them built by modelbuilders?

Actually there are more amphibians than straight floats because they can take off not only from water. Frequently gear and floats can both be attached to the plane, depending on which surface one flies.

Float planes, in contrary to flying boats can also take off on snow in winter. However, I also have a plane with skis. I even have a plane I can equip with gear, floates or skis. It's a Twin Otter with a wing span of 205cm (80").

Red Bull had a G44 years ago, but it sunk at Lago di Garda in Italy after a hard touch down 5 years ago.
