Try this: Go to the original location of  MD.DDS and MD_LM.DDS, and rename them to MD.DDS.off and MD_LM.DDS.off. Leave the copies in the main texture folder.

At this point, I'm at a loss to know what's going on. You have the textures on your system in 2 places and for some reason the object can't find them. At the same time, the other 2 objects that were a problem show when the textures were copied to the main texture folder. This is issue has cropped up in the past and was usually fixed by the things I suggested. Sorry. Maybe Rod will chime in with some suggestions.

Steve -
I think I may have found an error in the identification of the stubborn object at PF44 which may help us fix it.

You said at PF44 the stubborn object is:

"The second object is from buildings.bgl, which is included in the FSX or P3D factory installation. The object is gen_housingwood03, and textures used are MD.DDS and MD_LM.DDS."

Looking at objects in ADE I think it is instead from FSXP3D small airport objects 2.bgl also -
818e2c7349a26b0f70d26f872a04f97e Fuel Shed
I do not know how to tell what textures it uses.

Let me know what you think.

Steve mentioned me in one of his posts and I was just taking a look at this thread and saw your post.  Good sleuthing and it is great that you know how to use ADE.

The textures for the object you identify are:

fuelshf.dds
fuelshf_lm.dds
fuelshr.dds
fuelshr_lm.dds
fuelshs.dds
fuelshs_lm.dds

Can you also supply your full path name to your FSXP3D small airport objects 2.bgl file?  For example, mine is:

...C:\FSX\Addon Scenery\RTMM Object Libraries\EZ Scenery LibraryFSXP3D\scenery\FSXP3D small airport objects 2.bgl

Hi Rod.  Yes - my path is:

D:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery\Misty Moorings\RTMM Libraries\Scenery

Moving those textures to the FSX  main texture folder did the trick as it did for the others.

I have a feeling the way I have my libraries arranged my be the problem?  Although I have to say I have never had a problem before with that arrangement.

I also moved Fuel-Shed_o.dds........just off hand found the textures in the library texture folder.  If you could explain how to find what textures go to what object I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks for your help.

I find the textures using MCX which is a scenery developer tool primarily for converting objects.  It also lets you see each piece of an object....for example:  material uses (which refers to textures etc.).   If you want to read more on this tool, here is location:  https://www.scenerydesign.org/modelconverterx/

I agree with you that there is some kind of issue since (except for a few possible isolated cases) you should not have to put any of the textures from our standard libraries into the main texture folder.  Your path name may indicate an issue.  I don't understand it unless you have combined all of your RTMM object libraries into one scenery and one texture folder which does not follow the installation instructions of our libraries.

In other words, why isn't the EZ Scenery LibraryFSXP3D folder in the path to the FSXP3D small airport objects 2.bgl file?

Sorry about misidentifying the stubborn building. I might have been looking at the adjacent one, not sure. At least you now see them, but as Rod says there may be something going on somewhere in the way you have things organized. Like Rod, I use MCX to obtain all kinds of information about objects, although there are probably other tools out there that do this as well.

You aren't the first person who's had this problem by any means.

Steve & Rod,

I do have MCX on my computer although not that familiar with it.  Will utilize it more in the future.

I will admit I am guilty as charged in having all of my Libraries in one huge folder.

That's just the way I've always done it and like I said no trouble until now doing it that way.

But seeing as how this may cause future problems, I deleted all of my libraries and installed new ones per the instructions given in the downloads.

The result was I am having the exact same problem with the missing textures as I was in the beginning of all of this.  None of those textures would show until I placed them in the main FSX texture folder.  I'm as flummoxed as you are!  At least my libraries are installed correctly. Heh Heh.  And I can see the textures.

Thanks for your help in trying to solve the puzzle.  Much appreciated.

Cheers!  LW1 ;D

Glad you now have the object libraries properly installed.

If you would like to continue to try and solve the mystery, next step is to make sure you don't have another library enabled (inadvertently) that contains the same problem object or objects.  For example, you know one of the objects that was showing up with black textures is the fuel shed from the FSXP3D small airport objects 2.bgl object library file located inside the EZ Scenery LibraryFSXP3D set of libraries.  Go into your Scenery library and disable that object library set and see if the fuel shed object (whether textured or black) still shows up or does it disappear.

If the fuel shed disappears, then you know that the object library set that you disabled is the one causing the problem.   If it is still there in some form, then you have a duplicate library enabled somewhere.  If the problem is a duplicate library, first thing to do is search for any files on your system that have are named small airport objects 2.bgl.  Notice that I dropped the FSXP3D.   That is because I added the FSXP3D when i converted the original library to indicate it was now converted from FS9 models to FSX models.   If you do have a duplicate object, it would most likely be contained in one of the old EZ Scenery Library sets within the file named small airport objects 2.bgl.

Here's another interesting take on this topic from a few years ago. The whole thread is an interesting read.

This is also a good side lesson for all users to follow the suggested installation instructions, and how going off into the weeds can often make it difficult to track down avoidable problems.

Thanks for that suggestion Rod.

Egg on my face.  I did have duplicates for both bgl's lurking in other sceneries.  Slightly different names but same files.

Once those were taken care of - textures were pulled out of main FSX texture folder and wham - everything works fine.  There you go.  Lesson learned.

Thanks Guys.  Sorry for the trouble.

No trouble at all.  We all get caught by little 'gotchas" like that.  Glad you were able to solve the root issue.
