Flying in SE Alaska
« on: November 26, 2018, 10:57:11 AM »
Hello folks!  Last few years I've tried to spend a few weeks every summer flying my experimental (I built it) Super Cub in SE Alaska.  Here is a picture and a couple of short videos:

Wow. Very, VERY cool videos! How much "runway" room did you have left when you landed at Wolverine? Thanks for sharing those.

Great first hand piloting videos from Alaska Ted and a warm welcome to you. (Just had to join as subscriber on your video feed). Nothing like the real thing and in your own custom Super Cub even!! Bush at it's best!

Thank you everyone!  I do sincerely appreciate the wonderful resources on this site and your comments on this thread.

I can pretty much land in less than 100 feet.  Takeoff, depending on altitude, temperature, weight is anywhere from 100'+ to at most 300 feet.

Peavine airstrip is just up the Chitisone River valley maybe three miles.  If anyone wants, I can post a KMZ file of its location.

That would be great Ted of you have a KMZ. Peavine Airstrip by all the description looks like it's just a tad NE up from Glacier Creek (KGZ) in the valley.

Just a bit of a coincidence that your real "stomping" (or flying) grounds, the Chitina-Kennecott area, is the subject area of MFC Tour 25 that just built and will be open in January 2019. We're almost going right by your front door on leg 7.

Now Peavine Airstrip may not appear in the sim but you just wave us in and we'll be sure to come down for a visit!! lol  (Tour 25 Exploring Chitina-Kennecott map/route at bottom). Flying this stuff in the sim sure won't compare to the real piloting as you do but for us it's the next best thing!.
