Tours and real weather
« on: June 24, 2018, 11:55:53 AM »
Loving these tours, just wished weather would cooperate. Nothing like flying at 4500 feet and ceiling at 1500.  Sure would like to see that wonderful scenery you guys worked so hard on. Glad to have electronics and good maps on board!

Yes weather can be killer up here.. even at this time of the year... In the winter it is harsh winds and snow and little visibility. Now at this time, heavy cloud cover, flog/dew, low ceiling...lol.. Good luck.

Just a quick qestion about the tours.
Can't you open the weather (at least in FSX) and set 'clear weather'?

Or fair weather.  I do.  Much nicer flights that way.

Alaska can have brutal weather adding the realism of flight combating not only the flying aspect but also adds the huge challenge of trying to navigate the aircraft the harshness of the weather. Use the weather you want from dead calm to fair (do what you need to do) OR try to kick on real weather and over time the affects of real weather will sure catch up to you and it will provide the flying challenge from either harsh winds, snow n sleet or pounding rain, storms, heavy clouds/dew/fog - reduced visibility(or none!!) lol.. Nothing like a trying the rugged Alaska terrain with the challenge of doing it in the real weather. lol.

the weather i can take, the visibility however...usually under 10 miles, good if your at 1500",not so much above that, tours especially are most effected, because i usually havent been at those location and if u are flying without gps, visibility suddenly becomes a huge issue.
