P3Dv4
« on: June 10, 2017, 04:14:57 AM »
Hi All
I am going slowly re adding items to P3Dv4 as it obviously is a little different in structure to P3Dv3.4
Do we have an unequivocal OK to go with installation of RTMM Libraries and Addons into P3Dv4 from the Misty Moorings guys?

Can we get this P3Dv4 discussion consolidated into one thread please.  Too many threads about the same thing I think.   ???

Win10Pro64, MSFS 1.25.9.0, P3Dv4.3.29.25520, AMD Ryzen7 1800X@3.6 GHz , 32Gb RAM, GTX 1080 Ti, 2x42" Vizio Monitors, HTC Vive VR HMD, Saitek Yoke/Pedals/trim wheel, XBox360 Controller, G27 steering wheel w/shifter+pedals. :P

While this thread is still sitting here.....

No Misty Mooring guy is going to give you an unequivocal OK to do anything, so why don't you just go ahead and install everything, or just anything RTMM-wise and see what happens? What possible harm could there be if there's the unlikelihood of any problems? If so, just uninstall and you can report any problem. What kind of problems are you expecting to have anyway?

Thanks guys for those "unequivocal " responses. Perhaps that was too strong a word to use.!
Will go ahead with Libraries first then Sceneries

Here's Elaine's comment on AVSIM regarding the Migration tool..

"Hello
If you are a beginner to flight simulation and you are reading this comment,  Please do not use this tool as it can possibly mess your Prepar3D Install up beyond repair,  even worse it can also possibly corrupt your windows operating system   (You have been warned)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you have some experience in flight simulation (medium user)  Maybe its best to look for alternative Install methods before using this Tool,  If you decided to use this Tool,  Use it with Caution   (You have been advised)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you are an experienced flight simulation enthusiast (old hand)   *snigger*  Well now what are you's like eh !  Ooohhh afraid to move around a few files eh !  Ooohh how do you spell regedit !   All that  "one click and your done" laziness, That's so booring  (Real simmers Install manually)
Thank you :)"

Has anyone found an easier way to install Tsongass.  The directions I read sound pretty convoluted.

I got it installed.

I want to say with a direct install to P3Dv4. But this was after trying to install with Migration Tool. I had
ID10T issues :-[ and wiped my P3Dv3. So wiped both, uninstalled and reinstalled P3dv4 and it mostly looks good. I have elevation issues that I think I caused so will look at that but all in all its in OK  :)

You may have to remove one or two of the AI aircraft if you encounter a CTD during startup of P32Dv4 The DHC2 and 7??? not sure.
I got this from somewhere on the net, may have been from the FSAddon forum.
Google can be your friend :-\

Good luck. I'll try to help if I can.

 I found this for Tongass.

"I installed Tongass a simple way. You run your Tongass installer and point it to your P3D folder. Prior to that though, place your Terrain cfg ( a backup copy of your current one) and a current copy of your Scenery cfg into the P3D directory. Run the installer. After it is finished take out the 2 cfg's and place them back into your original location ( ProgramData/LM/P3D. You should open up the Terrain cfg and you should see all the 40 entries for Tongass in there. Same in your Scenery cfg, the entries should be in there. You then need to ensure that Tongass is placed in your Scenery Library in the correct location as per the instructions regarding where to place the Tongass files ( between FTX and OLC although I have mine set above both FTX and OLC) and that the Tongass Higher and Lower are correctly positioned.

The reason that Tongass would not install correctly originally is because the Terrain cfg and Scenery cfg used to be in FSX directory, but not so now with P3D. Hence the need to drop those 2 cfg's into the P3D directory temporarily, and then put them back in their correct location."

Thanks for the responses.  This sounds a lot easier than what I read previously.  Anyone try installing the AI ships from here after installing Tsongas?

What?  Doesn't everyone know that Poppet is a moderator on AVSIM who is named Elaine.   She is the one who wrote one of the detailed Tongass P3Dv3 installation procedures.   Elaine has been mentioned several times in this thread.  Now you know   :o
