Repaint FIX for C 185
« on: November 22, 2016, 12:00:51 PM »
Hi there!

I downloaded the repaint for the C 185 MM016, but the No on the left tail is reproduced in mirror image.
I couldn't find a fix for it, here in the forum.
Any help would be appreciated.

Doc,
the tail logo on the C-185 MM016 is not reversed on the download I just installed BUT the prop is not transparent on this and MM015 and I don't recall how a black prop disc can be fixed.  Anyone?

Prop disc fixed.  Had another repaint of the C-185 Tundra that had a good prop disc.  Looked in the texture folder and found a file (PROP.bmp) and added it to the 015MM and 016MM repaint texture folders and it worked.

OOPS!  Just found out that for some reason the cockpit interiors are all black with the instruments showing but no outside view at all.  I guess these repaints have some problems.  Carenado does strange things to the way they paint their A/C.  At least that's what I read.

Anyone have these repaints the work correctly in all views??

 8) Yeah, after I read the instructions. I started out doing the same thing you did- dropped the texture in, added the appropriate lines to the cfg file and jumped in the plane. Oops, black interior. The instructions-

"1. Go to your "SimObjects" folder inside FSX.
2. Locate the "Airplanes" folder.
3. Then the aircraft named "Carenado C185F Tundra"
4. Copy the folder named "Texture" and all files in that folder from the "Carenado C185F Tundra" main folder to your desktop.
5. Copy and paste the texture files found inside this zip named "texture.N016MM" into the temporary "Texture" folder you just placed on your desktop.
6. Overwrite any files that you are prompted to overwrite.
7. Rename the "Texture" folder on your desktop to "Texture.N016MM"
8. Move that folder back into the SimObjects/Airplanes/Carenado C185F Tundra model main folder.
9. Move the "thumbnailn016mm.jpg" from this zip to your Carendado C185F Tundra model main folder.
10. Copy and paste the config data below to your aircraft config file below the last similar entry with a space between.
11. Edit the [fltsim.X] part of the newly added config data you just copied to the next number in sequence.
12. Save the aircraft config file."
Since I already have the texture in the sim, I simply opened up the C-185 Misty 016 folder, and the Texture folder, clicked "select all" in the Texture folder, and dropped them in the 016 folder. Tell it NOT to over write. Worked for me.

Don't understand what the problem is/was but downloaded the re-paints again today and after two unsucessful attempts (following the instructions again.  I finally got the cockpit to show.  I sure hope this isn't an indication I've got FSX problems again.
OK off to re-attempt N016 now.

The instructions are a bit convoluted, so I used "shop math", as any good mechanic would.

Is 'shop math' anything like the USMC method of slip it weight and balance?  Slip it in and if it flies its not too heavy!.

Sort of. It's how you do math old style, as opposed to the new way taught in school.  Umm, short version.
35x 4.   3x4 is 12,  5x4 is 20, answer is 140. Like that.

Doc,
strange, here is shots of the A/C I have installed from the repaint download.

Click Enhancements then Repaints and that's the only one I know of.

Doc,
one more question; what sim are you running?  That would be the only difference I can think of.  P3D and FSX-SE are of course animals of a different stripe in some ways.

Hang in there a bit longer I'm sure a P3D.4 user will have some information and jump in.  Anyone?

It shows correctly for me in P3Dv3.4.9.  Looking at the texture sheet in FS Repaint, the tail is painted in normal orientation on both sides.  Not sure what is flipping it around for you.  ???

I have seen this anomaly before, but is not happening to me with this plane.  Sorry to be no help.  :-\
