Beaver Repaints
« on: January 29, 2011, 11:21:06 AM »
 :-[ Should likely have posted this in the Website Section..Sorry.

Hi,
I was going through the process of downloading Bill Dick's repaints and I managed to get confused.

The top item is for a Tundra but the zip file is named ......skiis.zip

The middle item is for an Amphibian but the zip file is named....skiis.zip

The bottom item is for floats and the zip file is named ....floats.zip (seems to match)

The readme for the top item:
(Talks about an amphibian but really wants to talk about skiis/wheels?)
(Is there a unique Tundra tire version without skiis?)

// Go to the directory where the aerosoft amphibian is located
// ...Microsoft Flight Simulator/SimObjects/Airplanes/Aerosoft Beaver Skiis
// Open that folder
// Add the "texture.MMS" folder from this zipped folder to the open folder
// Copy the following:
// Start Copy below:------------------------------------------------------

Alternatively a MKII was developed with 550 SHP Alvis Leonides 502/4 engine. Later the less common PT6A6 turboprop powerd Beaver was built between 1964 to 1969. In total almost 1700 plans were built and many of them are beautifully restored and service for tourist flights,transportation and fun all around the world.

The readme for the middle item:
(Seems to be the same as the top item [Tundra]?)

No, this is the perfect section of the forums, that's what this area is for!  Unfortunately, I'm just the "web guy" so I'm not able to help solve the issue, but I'm sure one of the developers will help you shortly.

Canuck ...

Take a look now and see if it all makes sense. Some files were "turned around" ... let us know if it works for you now.

The first item is now the - skiis version.
The download name ends with skiis..so far so good.

When I open the readme I see this:

// Go to the directory where the aerosoft amphibian is located
// ...Microsoft Flight Simulator/SimObjects/Airplanes/Aerosoft Beaver Skiis
// Open that folder
//

Maybe splitting hairs but perhaps the first line should not refer to the amphibian.
Maybe change to:
// Go to the directory where the Aerosoft Beaver Skiis is located

The second item is the Amphibian.
The download ends with amphib..so far so good.

// Go to the directory where the aerosoft amphibian is located

Maybe the first line could be changed there too to 'Aerosoft Beaver Amphibian'
as there may be more than one amphibian listed with either a 1 or 2 on the end of the folder name.

The last one if for the floats.
The download file ends with floats...so far so good.

I seem to have run into a problem with this one. My recent download readme talks about the
floats but the details seem to be all about the ski/wheel version:

// Go to the directory where the aerosoft floats is located
// ...Microsoft Flight Simulator/SimObjects/Airplanes/Aerosoft Beaver Floats
// Open that folder
// Copy and paste the "texture.MMS" folder from this zipped folder to the open folder
// Copy the following to clipboard:
// Start Copy below:------------------------------------------------------

I also am a bit uncertain as to the list of Aerosoft Beaver versions.
I have three versions of amphib and two versions of floats.

Do the textures apply to all Amphibs and all Floats?

Here is a snap from my FSX install of the Aerosoft Beavers:
