ORBX Southern California
« on: December 23, 2015, 03:01:46 PM »
Hey!  I just realized nobody posted that ORBX has released the Southern California Region.
With this region ORBX scenery covers the entire U.S. West coast from Mexico to mid-Alaska.  (You have to throw in Holger and Jon's Tongass X but that scenery is every bit as good as ORBX.)
Of course with popular scenery like ORBX the download servers at the Flightsim Store are being hit quite heavily but after the initial surge things should go back to almost normal.
The download is 6.37GB so be prepared with a fresh pot of 'mud' and a snack.
Later,

Spud

Am I seeing things or is CRM not ready for P3DV3?

Doug,
CRM is an older region and it may well not have been ported to P3 yet.  Don't use the sim so don't follow when new installer are ready for that sim.  If installer was updated it should be in the "Announcements" forum of ORBX.

To whom it may concern:

All Orbx North American "full fat" areas are meanwhile ready for P3D v3.

The products listed below are compatible with Lockheed Martin Prepar3D V3:
https://www.fullterrain.com/sim/P3Dv3

You have to do a complete new download from your FlightSim Store account.
Many greetings
Dieter

Anyone own this that is using FSX with DX10? I was wondering how it was in the way of lag? I have heard a lot of complaints. Anyone know how it would compare in performance to let's just say New York City X? <--- the biggest CPU hog I know. I can fly in New York City X, but have a little bit of issue in weather.

Being that I live in So Cal, I'm excited about this update, but a little concerned about performance. I have trouble with just the few ORBX freeware airports in the Southern California area. :/

Some good news I'm hoping?

Thanks Neptune! I only have 3.8 Ghz. However, I do have 32 GB of RAM and 6 GB of video card. Your specs look excellant! I think I would be running a bit slower than you.:)

I'm thinking it can't be any worse than New York City X when it came out. I should point out that it is a bit better with version 2. If anyone wants a really acurate New York and has at least the specs of my machine, then I would highly recommend it.

I may just get So Cal. I somehow have my doubts that my Townhouse will be correctly modeled in it. LOL! I seen some Youtube videos and ORBX has done a really great job with the mountains and Quarries. FSX did a terrible job and UTX didn't really get it right either.
