Daredevil's Roost
« on: February 28, 2011, 07:13:26 PM »
Well, Chris has done it again. Something entirely different for folks to try. Daredevil's Roost ... a trail goes up the mountain behind the Totem Bight Operations Center, and there on the mountain top, the locals found a great place to launch their bodies out into space on a bedsheet, some aluminum struts and raw courage!  If you haven't tried hang-gliding ... here's you chance.  The scenery was just put up this afternoon. Thanks Chris. Eveeryone ENJOY!

Great little scenery!

Maybe this place's marking (Plan-G) could be changed from water runway to helicopter?

That's odd...

I can't find anything in the file that says this should be anything like water... I shall have to have a look. Sea at >2000 feet is definitely one for the environmentalists!

Hi Chaps,

my Daredevil´s Roost heli-pad (transparent by the way) is floating a couple of feet above the ground.
the heli - if you start your flight at that point - is falling over to the ground.
All installation instructions were be followed to the point, but no joy.
Any suggestions!!??
cheers Rainer

P.S.: the readme.txt-file is just a rip-off of a former readme.txt-file!

"Rip-Off" is a very hard term to use! We use a standardised format for all the readme files.

As for the heli pad floating - do you have the FTX Pacifc Fjords sceneries installed?

Hi One-Eye,
thanks for your answer and sorry for the hard term "rip-off"; I didn´t know that and will do my very best in the future (I´m a German native speaker).
Yes, I´ve FTX Pacifc Fjords sceneries installed, and never ever had issues with elevation/altitute shiftings.
By the way, it´s not a big thing, I can live with that, just curious what´s the cause/culprit ;D
Best wishes
Rainer

Ist kein grosses Ding! Gut, dass wir das klären konnten ;)

...and:

I am working on it - it's bugging me too, because my next hill-top hang-gliding place is also showing as a water-based site.

Apres moi, la deluge...

No?

I have managed to replicate the floating heli pad and am working on it now. A little "nip-tuck" perhaps...

Hmmm... could be to do with the helipad inserted by ADE and the airport elevation.

Stay tuned but don't hold your breath.

Chris,
I installed Daredevil's Roost last evening and the helo pad is floating above the scenery in my installation as well.  Not bothered by it as I am not planning on landing on it anyway but thought you might be interested that it seems to be a slight glitch in the scenery.

The correct answer from me (I hope) is "Discovered and fixed" both for the helipad and for the PlanG thing.

Re-testing as I write. More later.

When you find the culprit let us know and we will do what it takes to repair our installation too.  I need to download an 4x4 of some kind and try to drive up the 'jeep track' from the highway some time.  Just need to find one that is powered by at least a J-79 for the hill I imagine.
