And our libraries go where in P3D 2.5?
« on: February 24, 2015, 06:23:18 PM »
 >:( More of a concern than an issue. Yet. But with a new installation of P3D 2.5, Lockheed have done away with the Addon Scenery Folder. So, how/will this affect our libraries and addon scenery locations in this version?

Some input from those that have already made the move would be helpful. Do we just leave an addon scenery folder outside of P3D now and point the sim to that location?
If it's that easy, great.

But, really, That's it?

During my migration I had the old 2.4 open on my desk top next to my new 2.5.  Just copied my Addon Scenery folder for 2.4 to 2.5  you will also notice that 2.5 doesn't have a modules folder, I copied that too. Before I installed 2.5, I renamed my P3d folder from D:\Prepar3D v2 to D:\Prepar3D v2.4.  I then ran uninstall  on D:\Prepar3D v2 and Prepar3D v2 was removed from the registry but my folder P3D v2.4 remains intact with all my files.  I created a new folder D:\Prepar3D v2 and installed version 2.5 to that folder.  I had previously made copies of my configuration files so I could just copy them to where they belong in the 2.5 version.  I copied my Sim Objects and all other folders, Orbx, FSAddon etc.  This process means that your scenery.cfg from 2.4 is still good.  My system is now fully operational with the exception of Instant Scenery  I am sure there are other ways to do this.  Jeff did his another way and I assume that he is operational also.  You need a new version of FSUIPC and ASN and both are available.

:-\  I'm gonna keep rolling just the same.  Mine works as is.  Why would they get rid of the addon scenery folder, or the modules folder for that matter?  My (new) FSUIPC uses the modules folder, and my Return to Misty Moorings folder is in the Addon Scenery folder.   The FSUIPC menu items work, as do my Opus weather menu items. (hotfix applied)  And Accu-feel is there too.  Everything works just as it did in v2.4.   ???

I know that in FSX the modules folder is created on the first installation of FSUIPC. And if you look inside of the folder, FSUIPC and related files are the only things that reside there.

You forgot to mention thatA2A_Feel.dll and AccuFeelMenu.dll is in there also.

Thanks for the clarification Dex. Not having anything A2A related I wasn't aware of that.

Minor issue, but they have fixed the elevation near Lihue ... (I fly Hawaii when I want to warm up) ... this has been broken since the beginning. Bottom Line, they are really paying attention to their forum comments getting little things fixed as well as the big ones.

I think we still say our libraries go in the Addon Scenery folder with a note that if you are a P3D user and that file does not exist, we recommend the user adds it so that they can easily follow all of our sceneries" installation instructions.

Doug,
if your speaking of the water elevation anomaly read this thread from ORBX.  My posts 16 and 17 give you the answer to fix the elevated water alongside the runway.

http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/85596-lihue-phli-elevation-anomaly/

Don't mean to hi-jack the thread but thought you might like the answer.  At least for FSX but I can't speak to P3D BETA programs.  :P

Spud, I was complimenting them in FIXING that problem...it is not a problem in 2.5, for the first time. And Rod was right, it is great to have the active smoke when you arrive at a cabin site. They are really coming along, hat tip on 2.5.
