Gilbert Bay V2
« on: February 08, 2015, 06:04:31 PM »
I added the RTMM Gilbert Bay addon today.

I went to it in my sim. The scenery is fine.

While I was there. I taxied down to the amphib. ramp. The ramp and the amphib plane is there. The big issue. There is no water anywhere in the area of Gilbert Bay. It appears to be all dry land.

Maybe I'm having an elevation issue in this area. It may be an elevation problem with something other than RTMM addons.

I took off again. While flying around. There's no water/lakes/ rivers etc., anywhere. My GPS panel shows there should be water. I'm sure it must be an elevation issue. I'm not sure how to find my elevation issue.

If all you see is nothing but land everywhere then you most likely have a terrain.cfg file corruption. Which brings up the question, did you mess with your terrain.cfg file?

No. I haven't messed with any scenery.cfg files. I don't go into any .cfg's unless I know what I'm doing.

Before I added Gilbert Bay V2 I deleted the previous Gilbert Bay I had from some time ago. I also had a previous RTMM Gilbert Bay. I deleted it as well. Than I installed Gilbert Bay V2, which I added a couple hours ago.

When that happens you need to reinstall your Tongass Fjords X, and make sure it is placed BELOW the FTX entries.  That's just from my failing memory.  I will look it up on the forum now.  We've dealt with this a few times before.   ???

That usually happens when the terrain.cfg gets mucked.

Interesting.

I have Tongass Fjords X. installed. It is where it should be in my FSX Sim library. Might there be a work around and or fix that my correct what the problem may be?. If it's related to Terrain/scenery .cfg's.

The product itself when I bought it was on the FSAddon site. FSAddon appears to be closed now, so I don't know who has the latest version of Tongass Fjords X for FSX
I bought mine back in 2010.

I wonder if the ORBX products have anything to do with what ever the issue is. I do use and run there  FTX Vector Configuration Tool when I install there addon fields etc.

Tongass Fjords has not changed.  FSAddon is here: http://fssupport.com/fsaddon/  Perhaps you could run the repair function on Tongass.

Grey Rider to run the Tongass X repair go to:

Start\All Programs\FSAddon\Tongass X>repair.

Been awhile but I have had to do this twice as I recall.

Spud.

When I start the repair. I get a warning that says The source setup file cannot be found! Please select the appropriate file or cancel the uninstall?.

The repair function is ticked. It only has two options. Either Repair or Remove

Not sure what's next.

George,
In that case have you tried a reinstall to see what happens?

I haven't tried to reinstall. I'm pretty sure mine is a download version. If I do find the reinstall file. Will it overwrite my current version of Tongass I have now?.

George,
What would it hurt to overwrite at this point since you're all mucked up anyway? You could just uninstall and reinstall TF.

One question using the route to the "repair" function, can you tic the uninstall button?  If so, and it works, I would un-install Tongass X and then re-install it from your original download.

NO Dear God do NOT start over again please. Just do the reinstall of Tongass Fjords as instructed by the messages in the thread here. That will fix your missing water and Tongass Fjords MUST be below the ORBX entries! Period!
