Maps
« on: December 31, 2014, 06:11:12 PM »
Really enjoying RTMM and Alaska.

So I have installed:
Tongass Fjords
Pacific Fjords
Pacific Northwest
Southern Alaska
Legacy Collection
Plan-G with all the CSV files

Are there any online maps showing the boundaries/coverage areas of each?

Thanks!

You could try searching the forum for coverage maps that have been posted already.   ;)
We go from Anchorage to Prince Rupert.  (Generally speaking.)   :o  8)
There are GoogleEarth KMZ files that define the perimeters of each region also, as well as show each cabin or location.  Go to Misty's Place (top of page) and click on map resources.  There are links to map services there also.

ORBX provides Google Earth KMZ files that show the Outlines of the North America regions they make. I believe there is also a KMZ file for Tongass Fjords too. We cover SAK, Tongass and Pacific Fjords up to and including the Owikeno Lake area of Pacific Northwest.

Get Google Earth, install those KMZ files and you'll be able to see where RTMM plays. I believe we actually might have some maps on our "Misty's Place" page but I could be wrong,

This is a link to a great little map of the FTX/ORBX regions were speaking of and although it doesn't have any RTMM airports etc. it does show the ORBX areas we use to develop our scenery.

https://mapsengine.google.com/map/viewer?mid=zN74Q3IxoWWY.kXgvyHPsc5FM

Enjoy.

PS: might want to put this in FAQ or pin it on the site.

I agree, a great map, and one that will answer questions from people in the future. I've added it to the "Reference Maps" at Misty's Place. You can find it HERE

Notice the Tongass Fjords area, very important to RTMM, is not depicted with the KMZ file. But I've indicated where it is located.

Doug,
you need to extend the line pointing to Tongass X as it is along the coast between PFJ and SAK not inland as indicated now.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all RTMMers!

Check out link below. The site has a downloadable ZIP file for TFX KMZ destinations, sectional overlays, compass tool and other nav goodies for the area useful with Google Earth and compatible addons. Hope it helps  ;)

Thanks to Ed Truthan for that Tongass GE KMZ.  I am installing it right now! ;)  Thanks for the link and Happy New Year to you too, Trex3D!  8)

(It does appear to be 5 or so years old, though. (2009))  Just sayin'   ;)

Hi, guys. Found these on the ORBX forums. KML files for all the ORBX Global freeware airport packs. 20 NA and 9 EU. Sweet. Not totally RTMM related, I know, but a real nice feature for those running the freeware packs. Maps is maps.

Some time ago I've made a KMZ map showing descriptions of RTMM locations grouped by Orbx and Tongass regions and airstrips/docks/SPBs/cabins. You can find it HERE.

Hope this helps!
