Prince William Sound is released.
« on: December 19, 2014, 07:01:41 PM »
Seasons Greetings! Return to Misty Moorings is pleased to announce a special holiday present for our fans is now ready for immediate download on our scenery page. Prince William Sound first edition is now released!! Look under "P" on the RTMM scenery page.

This is the first of a collection of scenery enhancements that are in the works for this area of the ORBX FTX Southern Alaska region. We have more locations coming for Prince William Sound and Rod Jackson has been hard at work and will be releasing a scenery collection of his own for the Kenai Peninsula near the Seward and Whittier area soon that this package should compliment nicely.

Details on the locations in this release are highlighted within the README file included in the zip file. There is also a map image included in the zipfile that shows an overall top down view of where the included locations are at. You'll also have two flight plans that are FSX and P3D ready that will take you on a trip to each location so you can become familiar with the area.

Some specifics: There are a couple of locations that have seasonal scenery enhancements so you'll need the RTMM season switcher utility to make those changes happen.

Hinchinbrook Island has a radio tower that constantly needs helicopter support for the maintenance crew. There are two dirt airstrips on that island as well that have scenery enhancements added. Small buildings, trailers and other objects add to the airstrips to give them a little more detail.

Johnstone Point airstrip is sure to keep you on your toes as the local bird population has taken up residence and any aircraft that uses the airstrip is sure to stir up the flock and when these birds get agitated, they can make a pilots job very challenging. Look for animated nature which is portrayed in several spots. See birds flocking and nesting, Dolphin schools, Orca patrolling, Eagles circling and other wildlife included to help bring this scenery to life.

Several cabins have been placed along island shorelines. There's an old abandoned settlement to check out. See if you can spot the shipwreck as well as a salmon hatchery. You'll also find a floatplane mooring point in a protected cove plus a couple of small private lodges that are just waiting to be discovered in Prince William Sound.

This is version 1. We have plans for another set of locations coming in version 2 which will be added after the new year.

Happy Holidays from the team at RTMM.

Hi Brad,

Just took a spin around PWS using the Chenega loop.   I really enjoyed the enhancement work that you have done.   The more detailed areas around C05 looked great.  Took awhile to find Eshamy Bay and Chenega Island cabins.  I  especially enjoyed the playful dolphins at the various locations.

Great work.  Thanks.

Rod
