Air Traffic Control for PAKT
« on: February 21, 2011, 10:17:48 AM »
For the "non purists" among us who can't understand why there is a beautiful control tower at PAKT but nobody in it ... this is for you.  Air Traffic Control for PAKT.  Kim Gowney gave us a simple "fix" that will give you what we "used to have" in FS2004 ... somebody talking back to us from PAKT when we were trying to land there.  It is a simple revision ... please back up the original file as stated in the readme before you put the new file in from the download.

We corresponded with Russ White who will be making the ORBX PAKT that is do out in late August, Russ says this will not interfere with anything he is planning. When that package comes, should you choose to use it, you may have either take out this modification or the new package will over write it.  But between now and August you can have some fun with this one.

Tower is 123.575  Ground is 123.950

You can download this enhancement from: Enhancements / Sounds

Well, Russ will have to get his own photos of the outside, but here's what the 'business side' of the PAKT tower looks like

Hmmm. I had that pictured with boxes and crates ... so there really "is" an ATC group there?

I guess two people is a group, so yes :-) Very kind too, giving me all kind of information and even some nifty URL's to check out.

They are NOT linked to anything and have NO radar because of the mountains around them. The use webcams on other airfields to inform the pilots of the weather situation there..... Their main job is to keep all the float planes out of the way of the airliners .... *grin*

Can be a very hectic job in tourist season with Beavers Buzzing all over the place

Guys, Kim, anyone,
Need some info here.  :o
Downloaded the file, extracted it read the readme.txt and first thing I noticed is that the .bgl is named:

ADE_FTX_PFJ_PAKT_Ketchikan_Intl(2).BGL

When I go to the ORBX folder and look for that file the closest I come is:

ADE_FTX_PFJ_PAKT_Ketchikan_Intl.BGL
or:
ADE_FTX_PFJ_PAKT_Ketchikan_Intl_CVX.bgl

I would assume that the first one is the file to replace.  Is so, should I leave the (2) in the replacement file name or change it to be exactly like the original ORBX file name???   ???

Sorry for being so anal but if I screw up my FSX install I would not be a happy camper!   >:(

Dunno where the (2) came from?  But yes, you got it right, back up the ADE_FTX_PFJ_PAKT_Ketchikan_Intl.BGL  and drop the (2) in it's place, whether you rename it of not won't make any difference, but you musn't have both files active at the same time, that will cause problems. So for the best I would rename it to match the original, then you will know for sure for any future changes exactly which scenery file is active.

Thanks for the confirmation on this.  Better to ask than to drop back 5 yards and punt sez I.
