Anyone know the name of this lake?
« on: October 12, 2014, 06:17:50 PM »

I'm referring to the landing at 5:40. The couple of minutes prior to the landing give an overview of the landscape. It's a stunning place.

That's a great video but have no idea which lake it was.

Nope, don't know that lake, but that is one heck of a video. It is like we have all been there before!

I think I might have found it - Little Goat Lake. It matches the topography of the area where she did the 180 turn and the waterfall/stream as they exited the area of the lake and turned right, to fly over another lake (Big Goat Lake). Time to go have a look "first hand"!

She was flying dispatch 4?  ;)   :-\ ???

Dispatch 1 is very similar also.  It finishes at Wilson River Lodge.

I don't know the lake but I would venture a guess that is is some where to the E of PAKT because at 2:20 the scenery is New Eddystone Rock.  Here is FSX screen shot of that feature in RTMM.  Who says its not "as real as it gets!"

Great video of a great approach to the lake.  She makes it look easy.

I noticed on youtube that Patrick asked the other video's owner what the lake's name is.  Pretty tricky Patrick.  Let us know if you find out.

Hey Jeff,

Great video! That seems to be the same pilot and aircraft (notice the mid-mounted GPS unit) in the video I posted.

Had a look at the topography of Nooya lake and I am pretty convinced this is the same lake as in the video I posted. Little Goat Lake does not have that plain with trees and river at the bottom of the escarpment. Nooya does! It also has the water fall that "turns right" as you exit the lake area. In addition, New Eddystone Rock is on the way to the lake from PAKT.

Great detective work ;-)

P.S. You can actually get CAVOK wx in Misty! And the sea can actually look blue! ;-)

Forget the GPS location. Check out the registration number on the panel and the fuselage.

The fact both videos use Enya for background music also hints at a connection.

Gorgeous country, isn't it?

Nooya Lake is stop number 7 on the Dispatch 4 flight.  It is one of my favorite approaches in dispatch 4.  A sharp left bank into an elevated lake tucked neatly around the corner.  There are islands to avoid on approach also.   8)
