P3Dv2.3 Available!
« on: August 11, 2014, 06:08:44 PM »
I just read that it P3D v2.3 has been released.  I can't wait to hear if some of the big bugs have been fixed.  The list does show a fix for object effects which I really hope will solve the regen of effects issue.

Here is link to announcement:   http://www.prepar3d.com/news/2014/08/5408/

 >:( Might be prudent to allow for the third party developers like FSUIPC, Accufeel, ORBX, Active Sky Next and on and on and on..... to provide their own patches for their products to work with the new 2.3 version of Prepar3D.

Lot's of people are reporting having new problems because various .dll modules are faulting, new CTDs, slow FPS, Graphics challenges anew, etc. Lot's of people are asking for help right now. Some solutions are presenting themselves while some products that worked in 2.2 are now rendered incompatible in 2.3.

No, I will wait for about a month before I download any new updates anymore. I sit back and read what's going on first then I'll let the bugs get cleaned out. I really don't have the time or patience to be a beta tester for these companies.

Just my 2 cents,

Brad

Tried the patch, disaster. Got an error with msvcr100.dll ... repeatable.

Didn't recognize the dll's for InstantSceneryP3d.dll and ObjectFlow_sak-p3d.dll ... tried a "run once" and "don't run" on both ... same error. But I don't think these were the problem. Running them or not made no difference.

Then, the site states:
If problems, you are supposed to delete the files in these:
%PROGRAMDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2
%APPDATA%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2

If you do this, you've lost everything ... all RTMM, ORBX, etc. Might as well totally start over, which is what I am doing.  I would not try the patch, it is a disaster.

Brad's advice is darned good ... had I to do this over, I would not touch anything until people started reporting it all worked.  I'm really surprised LM allows a patch to go out like that when it can have so many errors.

The "pain" of starting over, is adding all the ORBX sceneries, MyTraffic (for me), Tongass X, on and on. Not an easy process.

Thanks Doug for you time and effort in trying the patch and letting us all know your findings. I consider myself Lucky at this point in not giving the new offer from LM a whirl...yet. I can think a new DLL will be out shortly from Orbx.   For some brain dead reason I thought that LM and Orbx and others maybe worked a bit closer concerning these issues but, nooooo.

Gentlemen,
here is a cut n' paste from one of the guys on the ORBX forums.  Frank is building a first class 737 cockpit.  Just the video graphics portion is using 3 computers driving 3 projectors for the outside views.  In any case he just download P3D v2.3 and has the following to report on the sim.  I thought those of you early adopter here at RTMM may be interested in his findings and comments posted below.

"Guys, I'm so excited, I think I've just caught a glimpse of true simmers Nirvana!  LM just released P3D V2.3 today and I downloaded it earlier tonight.

Now, a word of WARNING!, I am not advocating that anybody run out and install this version straight away.
It has some problems!  It does not like the current FSUIPC, so Pete Dawson has a new one coming (he's currently away on holidays).  Then there is a problem with ASN, Hi-Fi will no doubt be on to that as well.

The ORBX libraries have a small problem with their object library (I hope that is right?), but when I upgraded, it asked me to re0start and I didn't see the error again.

So, after all that you probably need to delete the config file and let it re-build that.  I actually did all of the above and finally got back to a flying condition.  I've also downloaded the full install and as soon as there is a new fix for FSUIPC and ASN, I'll re-install the full program.

Anyway, back to Nirvana.

I got the program running and loaded up my OzSim Jetstream 737.  I started a flight from Sydney and flew up to Brisbane.  I was just blown away! So smooth......I couldn't help myself, I went into the settings and kept bumping them up.  Pretty soon, I had them higher than I've even had running with my GTX680's (I currently have a little GTX580 running in this machine).   I bumped up the AA to nearly full and turned off the clouds, so I could check out the scenery.  To behold ORBX land in such glory was astonishing."
Later,

Spud

Well, after uninstalling and reinstalling, I get the same error message with msvcr100.dll. This is "all over" the board over at P3D. (go to the forum and do a search for msvcr100.dll and you'll see all the threads).

They are saying it is C++ ... but the program loads the "new" stuff of C++ with the full install. They've got a problem somewhere. I'm "down" here until they can fix it ... the program comes up, and about 5 seconds later ... fatal error. every time path is to msvcr100.dll.

Right now, I would NOT RECOMMEND "upgrading" to the new version until they figure this out.

They'll figure it out .. meanwhile, I'm going to go read a good book!

Hi guys,

I ran into the problem with not rolling back before installing the patch. But after sorting that out I have to confirm that this version is a big step ahead, however depending on the individual add on it may well turn out to be a nasty little update. Have a look at the attached screen shot, this nice campfire looked great before and now seems to be fueled by old tires :-)

PS: Recopied and overwrote the effect files for the fire. The MM file shows as in the attached pictured, the standard Prepar3D file shows a flame, the version I like better. And I am sure that before it was different. But maybe I used the standard fire before as well.

2.3 rocks. Patching or reinstalling is highly recommended from my side.

I'm pretty sure you have an older Waterfall folder. I think I took out the burning tires for that very reason. I replaced that with a smaller campfire if I recall correctly. Haven't got P3D running so couldn't check it for you as I usually would have.
