SIRP by Mike Broemme updated...now Version 2.1

If you haven't flown the glacier ice stations above Petersburg, it is something you have to put on your RTMM bucket list!  Mike Broemme has re-created the SIRP stations that we had years ago with the old Misty Moorings site.  The update fixes the offset smoke problems with the burning barrels, adds smoke to some building chimneys, adds approach lighting so you can line up better on the snow runways and adds a little lighting for dusk/dawn operations around the buildings.

At the MFC site, Norm has created MFC0015 SIRP Petersburg Exploration ... a tour that takes you to the ice stations. If you haven't tried our "VA" here is a great chance to now only join the fun, but also see the beautiful ice stations.

The new version 2.1 is on the Scenery Page under "S" (SIRP).

BWEP Dalton Highway RELEASED!  By Brad Allen and Friends

Along its length, the Dalton Highway is a spine-snapping roadbed of dirt, loose gravel and rocks. It cuts through boreal forests, along endless stretches of wilderness prarie and permafrost, across the Arctic Circle, up and down the unforgiving passes of the Brooks Range and deep into the reaches of an arctic coastal plain. The highway boasts, if that is actually the word, the longest stretch of unserviced road on the North American continent. For 240 miles, from Coldfoot to Deadhorse, there is nothing. There are no gas stations, no flush toilets, no auto body shops, no restaurants, no medical facilities, no hotels, no motels, no state police posts, no cellphone service, no Internet connections, no radio reception — nothing at all, for a seven-hour span, if you are lucky. Nothing but the thoroughfare itself.

In addition to these numerous signs of absolute desolance, there is also no good reason for a nonprofessional driver to drive the Dalton Highway. Hewed from the permafrost over five brief months in 1974, it originally served as an access road for construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, which itself was built from 1975 to 1977, after oil was discovered on Alaska’s North Slope. Now it is primarily used by large trucks hauling equipment to the oil fields along the Arctic Ocean shoreline.

This segment of the BWEP Project starts out at the Yukon River and ends at Prospect Creek. There are several additional stopping points along the route that pilots can visit. Look on the BWEP Web Page. You can download from there and see all of the locations available for this new segment.

SIRP by Mike Broemme updated to Version 2.2

Mike has given us an update of SIRP. Here is is description of the new version:

  • This is again the old SIRP with adapted smoke and additionally iced runway. There is now a switch where the user can choose between FSX / P3D and P3Dv4 +. And the user can disable the icy runway if necessary.

The switch is the Scenery Configurator LITE ...

At the end of the SIRP installation you have to run the Configurator. With it, the various scenery components can be comfortably adapted to the individual needs of the user. It is not necessary to save the changes.

The changes will be taken directly when setting the option. You can quit the configurator by clicking on Close (X) The Scenery Configurator Lite comes from 29Palms Scenery Design.
He will provided to all freeware developers for free.

    Mike

You can find the updated SIRP on the RTMM scenery page under "S".

SIRP Version 2.3 by Mike Broemme

This is an updated version of SIRP from Mike that fixes a small error in the original version below.

NOTAM: This package is unique in that there is a version incorporated that allows some of the new features of P3D V4.2 to be utilized. (In this case, icy runways). This package is, by default, compatible with FSX and P3D V3. But there is a "configurator" that allows the scenery to be quickly converted to 4.2 format for the new features.  This is still in testing phases, it would be interesting to see what people think of this. Please respond on the forum.

Minor Housekeeping Updates

Goose Bay Cabin .... you won't see anything different, but there were 3 objects in this file that were showing up 200 miles away. That has been fixed.

Big Fall Hydro ... the falls looked fine in P3D V3 and FSX, but in 4.2 the fog/waves were not correct. Those have now been fixed and it works in all of them.

Owikeeno Lake Area ... Added a fuel trigger to Ashlum Creek, Brad's BBQ. The pump was there but it wasn't active ... it is now.

None of these are MAJOR, but some people use the NOTAMS to keep up with all changes, so this is for them.

MILVIZ De Havilland Canada DHC-3 Otter
by Reiner Test (MFC0004 / AKA1384)

We would like to thank Reiner Test for this beautiful (Klaus Troeppner colors) repaint for the MILVIZ De Havilland Canada DHC-3 Otter. This is Reiner's first contribution to RTMM and Klaus, the repaint department captain, fully approved the color scheme, etc.

You must have the payware package MILVIZ Otter DHC-3 installed to use these textures. Thank you Reiner and Klaus.

... you can find the new paint job on the Enhancements Page, at the bottom of the airplane repaints table.

GoTo Table and Translate

When you use the GoTo table (Here2There/GoTo Button), be sure you are not first seeing the "Translate this Page" box from a browser addon.  If you see that, you are not seeing the special script that makes the filters for the page work correctly.  If you see this, in that box, select OPTIONS and select DO NOT TRANSLATE THIS PAGE. The scripts will then function and the page will work correctly for you.

Flight Planning Bug in P3D V4.3

UPDATE!  The latest version of P3D, V4 fixes this problem.

Just a heads up to people running P3D V4.3. There is a bug with the present version when it comes to loading a flight plan.  If you load an RTMM Flight Plan (From RTMM_Flight_Plans.zip), VERY RARELY will it be a direct flight, there almost always are way points along the way. So if you load a flight plan and see it is "GPS Direct" from the starting point to the ending point, DO NOT "SAVE" Flight information and go directly to LOAD and load it again and it will probably come up with all the waypoints. If you "save", you will save the error and overwrite your .pln file to a new direct GPS route.  So, IGNORE, and immediately LOAD (without saving first) and it should be ok.

This USUALLY happens when you start the sim and first load a flight plan, later when you load a second flight plan you probably won't see the problem.

We are told Lockheed Martin is aware of this bug and it will be fixed with the next version of P3D.

Spud's Beasley Creek Retreat - In Memorial

Brad Allen has created a beautiful "retreat" for our departed friend, Spud. This is a team mate who will always be missed by those of us who counted on his help and input. You can download this from the scenery page under "S".

RIP Spud.

RSA  (Route Safe Altitude)

In conjunction with MFC, we are introducing a new term, RSA or Route Safe Altitude. If you want to fly LOW and SLOW and either use gps for navigation or carefully follow the gps route, you can use the lowest possible altitude for the route and be safe. (Be sure to have your barometer set correctly). This brings you "down into" the scenery, barnstorming and bushing flying. When you see "RSA" in the name of the flight plan from RTMM_Flight_Plans.zip, you will know that that particular route has been "safety checked" to fly at the RSA.  Read more about it HERE.

Nekite Lake Cabin - Added to Owikeno Lake Area

While working on the MFC routes, I discovered the landing zone at Dallory's End Cabin is literally impossible for a fixed wing aircraft ... so we made it "HELO".  The "new" scenery location to represent that area is Nekite Lake Cabin, just beyond Dallory's End Cabin with a turn to starboard. However we've made a whole new "route" to get to it.  If you already have Owikeno Lake Area, you need to DELETE the scenery folder, and add the "Owikeno Lake Area" scenery folder located in the "Owikeno Lake Area 12.13.2018.zip" file.  The MFC flight number for Nekite is MFC0425B.  You can find the new location on the GoTo table with map/distance, etc. Remember, when you download Owikeno Lake Area, you are getting 34 locations!

Icon A5 Light Amphibian ... A Misty Repaint by Klaus Tröppner

Not your typical "bush" aircraft ... but PERFECT for the short hops land & water at Return to Misty Moorings. Klaus has repainted the Icon A5 in Misty Colors with a "modern" touch. It has plenty of "windshield" so you can view the beautiful scenery easily. You can get the aircraft from this link at Rikoooo:

https://www.rikoooo.com/downloads/viewdownload/17/464

This is a freeware aircraft (while you're at it browse Rikoooo, there are some interesting things to see).  Our thanks to Andreas Koerner for the beautiful aircraft and always our thanks to Klaus for the stunning Misty Repaint.

Refresh 2019

We have formally started our "Refresh 2019" campaign. We are going back to many of the older scenery locations and are updating them technically. Often the Season Switcher is being added, new library objects, etc. But we are also paying a great deal of attention to the "readme" instructions for each location making sure they are clear and not out of date. To learn more about the process go to the forum HERE and join the discussion.
