Whistler Aerodrome and Vancouver Int'l Sea Plane Base - by Doug LinnThese are two separate packages. We will be using the Vancouver Int'l SPB for "starts" often. It was left out of ORBX PNW, so we "fixed it up" a little, gave it a fuel pump and a windsock and it's own ADEX file (so we made it an airport), and it can be used for starts for Plan-G planning and journeys. It also has a "dock" starting point. You can download the Vancouver Int'l SPB from the Scenery Page under "V".
Whistler Mountain is a world-class ski resort area that people from all over the world come to enjoy. It is about 70 miles from Vancouver Int'l, where most people will fly into. So if you want to experience what it would be like to getting to Whistler Mountain, you can fly to Vancouver Int'l in a commercial jet liner, then take a bus over to the Sea Plane Base there (CAM9), and fly in a float or amphibian to Whistler Aerodrome (CAE5) ... experiencing virtually the "real" trip. The scenery along the way is stunning. There is a trip ticket (version 3), that guides you along the route and a flight-seeing flight-plan that allows you to use autopilot all the way to enjoy the scenery. (Notam: watch the altitude, you start at 1200 feet but go to 3200 feet!).
The Whistler Aerodrome is also a "real" airport, CAE5, and we have positioned it exactly where it should be on Green Lake near the mountains. This location also has a "dock" starting point. Our rendition is better than the real one because there is a Brad's BBQ waiting for you when you arrive at the dock. This scenery works with the RTMM Season Switcher so pick your season before you fly. Also note that the lake freezes in winter ... you have to be careful not to run over the ice fishermen on the lake when landing in winter. Also you will need skis or Tundra and that will have to take of from Vancouver Int'l, NOT the SPB. (But you can still "hook up" with the flight plan easily to make the trip. You will find this scenery under "W" on the Scenery Page.
