Vehicle Object Fix for P3DRecently, we discoverd that objects displayed by P3Dv2 that are being rendered from the standard P3Dv2 vehicles_land.bgl object library, located in the P3D v2\Scenery\Global\Scenery folder, are, on a random basis, not displayed at all, displayed with broken graphics (e.g. missing tires) or displayed correctly. So, for example, in a line of land vehicles from the vechicles_land.bgl placed on a surface, all may appear correctly, some may appear or some may appear and some will have broken graphics. Every time the scenery is reloaded, the result can be different. This indicates that Lockheed's vehicles_land.bgl does not work correctly in P3Dv2 and needs to be corrected by Lockheed Martin in a future release. (A bug report has been sent to LM).
For now, if you want P3Dv2 to correctly display some of the land vehicles in our sceneries, there is a simple temporary fix, included in this patch folder. We are providing an alternate file named vehicles_landFSXP3D.BGL This file was created by taking the vehicles_land.bgl from FSX and re-converting it using MCX to work correclty in P3Dv2. This conversion process was similar to what RTMM did when we converted all the other non-compliant RTMM object libraries to be compliant with P3Dv2.
If you wish to use this converted file on a temporary basis until Lockheed is able to correct their vehicles_land.bgl so that it works properly in P3Dv2, simply go to the ...P3D v2\Scenery\Global\Scenery Folder and add the suffix .off to the vehicles_land.bgl file you find there and then copy the vehicles_landFSXP3D.BGL from this folder to that very same ...P3D v2\Scenery\Global\Scenery Folder. This converted file contains all the same models that the incorreclty working vehicles_land.bgl file contained except that now they have been re-converted to work correclty in P3Dv2.
Look on the top of the
SCENERY page at the bottom of the top table. There is a zip button there where you can download this temporary patch. Our thanks to Rod for figuring this out and giving us this temporary fix.
