Vehicle Object Fix for P3D

Recently, we discoverd that objects displayed by P3Dv2 that are being rendered from the standard P3Dv2 vehicles_land.bgl object library, located in the P3D v2\Scenery\Global\Scenery folder,  are, on a random basis, not displayed at all, displayed with broken graphics (e.g. missing tires) or displayed correctly.  So, for example, in a line of land vehicles from the vechicles_land.bgl placed on a surface, all may appear correctly, some may appear or some may appear and some will have broken graphics.  Every time the scenery is reloaded, the result can be different.  This indicates that Lockheed's vehicles_land.bgl does not work correctly in P3Dv2 and needs to be corrected by Lockheed Martin in a future release. (A bug report has been sent to LM).

For now, if you want P3Dv2 to correctly display some of the land vehicles in our sceneries, there is a simple temporary fix, included in this patch folder.  We are providing an alternate file named vehicles_landFSXP3D.BGL    This file was created by taking the vehicles_land.bgl from FSX and re-converting it using MCX to work correclty in P3Dv2.  This conversion process was similar to what RTMM did when we converted all the other non-compliant RTMM object libraries to be compliant with P3Dv2.

If you wish to use this converted file on a temporary basis until Lockheed is able to correct their vehicles_land.bgl so that it works properly in P3Dv2, simply go to the ...P3D v2\Scenery\Global\Scenery Folder and add the suffix .off to the vehicles_land.bgl file you find there and then copy the vehicles_landFSXP3D.BGL  from this folder to that very same ...P3D v2\Scenery\Global\Scenery Folder. This converted file contains all the same models that the incorreclty working vehicles_land.bgl file contained except that now they have been re-converted to work correclty in P3Dv2.

Look on the top of the SCENERY page at the bottom of the top table. There is a zip button there where you can download this temporary patch. Our thanks to Rod for figuring this out and giving us this temporary fix.

Yes Bay Lodge - Reposted!!!

Yes Bay Lodge, one of the most beautiful and accurate scenery locations in RTMM has now been reposted. We had to take down the posting because of potential copyright problems using the name "Yes Bay Lodge". We have now heard from Ryan Martinez, Marketing/Reservations Manager for Yes Bay Lodge giving us permission.

This is a very complex location and you should read the PDF file carefully to fully understand the installation of this work. You will find boating traffic enhancements, an upper and lower lodge and many other additions in the downloads. You can find it under "Y" on the Scenery Page.

RTMM Flight Plans - updating regularly

If you are using the RTMM Flight Plans package, keep an eye on it. We are updating it regularly as we are finding things to "fix".  The latest "fix" will be posted at the download page for it (Here2There) with the "update date".  I'll not make a notam every time we update it, but keep an eye on it if you are using these, they are changing.

Also, flight plan maps for Josephine Lake, Staney Creek Cabin have been added to the Cabins page. They were previously missing.

Nina's Landing Update - Sound

We have been experiencing problems with the sound files at Nina's Landing. We've decided to take them out. If you already have them, look at the zip you downloaded and eliminate the sound files.

New Trip Ticket - Wasilla to Seward (overland route) Flightseeing Tour

I created a trip ticket (V2) that takes you from Wasilla to Seward past Lawing on an "inside" route going through the mountains rather than around over water. This is the first of these kinds of Trip Tics. Most of ours go from an airport to a location. But we do not have any from airport to airport. I intend to highlight some of the lesser known float plane bases with many of these. These will all be "flight-seeing" routes which means you can turn on the autopilot and enjoy the scenery yourself. There are historical facts included in each as you pass over specific areas. You bring up the ticket, then you can download the map and flight plan from the top of the TripTic. (Notam: You can use the autopilot, but watch the NOTAMs for Altitude changes along the way on these). Also there are pictures included for the "tricky" turns to help you find your way if you are going full VFR. You can find the first one HERE. If you are not familiar with how to use the TripTics, you can learn about them on the FAQ page HERE.

Cape Decision to Edna Bay Docks - Trip Tic Added

You will need Tongass X for this and the "RTMM Docks" scenery package. This gives you 19 updated little airports (float). These are "real" sea plane bases and lighthouses.  I'll be making a series of Trip Tickets to go between all of them.  We have another package called SAK Sea Plane Bases, which is similar but for ORBX SAK. We will also be making trip tickets for those eventually.  We are going to keep them separate (Tongass X and SAK). If someone only has Tongass X, then s/he should be using only the Tongass X flight plans, etc).

These will be found on the HERE2THERE page in the Trip Tickets area.  These will be all "non-location" tickets, meaning we don't have a "scenery package" (like a cabin or lodge) at the end of a flight. All of these will be (little) airport to airport flights.

Trip Tic - Corner Bay Docks to Gilbert Bay SPB and Airfield

This is a V3 TripTic ... meaning there are screenshots of the turns and visual instructions. You can fly these VFR, or use the gps to "tip you off" to the turns ... or the autopilot to fly low and slow and just sit back and see the beautiful scenery. This route is east/west south of Juneau. You will need Tongass X for the TripTic and the RTMM Docks scenery package. About a 25 minute flight. You can find it at Here2There in the Trip Tickets Table.

Trip Tic Beta (Quality Control for the masses!)

We are "connecting" many of the little TFxx spb's and docks that are relatively unknown. These short TripTics connect these so people get a chance to see them. (They are so small, you are probably flying over them and don't even know they are there). We'll be posting the beta TripTics on the Scenery Page, UNDER the "Z" area. (Go to the scenery page, click on Z, it will take you to the bottom of the page). This gives everyone a shot at helping us with quality control for these. The discussion thread is HERE. There is a "feedback" link at the bottom of each of the new tickets so you can get "errors and problems" back to us quickly.

The first one is "up" in the area and is ready for testing: Biorkia Island Biorkai Island Dock to Saginaw Dock West.

Trip Ticket - Frederick Point VOR Station to Five Finger Lighthouse
TF06 (Vor Stn) Modified

There is a new beta trip ticket (below Z on the scenery page).  If you fly it and have a problem, let us know with the feedback link at the bottom of the triptic.  This 40 mile trip over water is an easy one (a great one for beginners on TripTics). We found a problem at TF06. The dock there had an invisible extension that caused the aircraft to rise 20 feet in the air. We put in an exclusion and added a new dock and the problem is solved. (We only saw this problem with P3D, not FSX). So the scenery is compatible for both sims. Be sure to download the updated RTMM Docks scenery to make sure you have the latest.

Trip Ticket - View Cove Dock to Forrester Island Research Center

Uploaded to the beta section so anyone can try it and comment. Just a short flight from View Cove to the research center. Flight level 1200 feet. You can find the beta section for these below "Z" on the Scenery Page.

Wilson River Lodge - To/From Flight Plans (to Misty's Place)

To and From flight plans have been created for low and slow to and from Wilson River Lodge and Misty's Place. Both LAND landings, no water (select wheels!). Although this is an airport (PF25) and you can fly to it direct, there was no low/slow plans to reach the lodge and fly back from it. You can download the plans from the Scenery Page under Wilson River (look for FS button) and it is now in the RTMM Flight Plans zip on the Here2There Page.

Misty's Place Remodeling -(V8)

Too many people have been going into the wrong door at Misty's Place, and ending up in the maintenance area of the old hanger instead of the bar. So we've remodeled it a little to give our visitors an easier way to find the "correct" front door. Misty's Place is a converted hanger with a friendly gateway in what used to be the hanger door. We've even got a greeter on the porch now. The update is on the scenery page under Misty's Place.

Misty Moorings Bell 407 Repaint by Klaus Troeppner

Many have asked for Klaus' beautiful repaint of the Bell 407 in Misty Colors. You can now download it from the ENHANCEMENTS page. For the rotorheads among us, this is a great addition to your virtual hanger.

NOTAM: To find things easier on the Enhancements Page (and any RTMM web page), remember to use CTRL+F for windows and Command+F for Mac ... then enter what you are looking for in the search box. In this case, add "Bell 407" and Klaus' new repaint will be found for you. Click on the image to download the file. (I've put two "reminder" buttons at the top of the enhancements page for the FIND.

Windsocks - Rod Jackson made and excellent "Developer's Guide" that is for the people more advanced in "scenery objects".  You can see the summary for the guide on the FAQ page under "D". Also, there you can download the full document (Word).  One of the items Rod discusses in the guide is that the windsocks from FSX no longer work in P3D. If you want a "working" windsock (one that moves with wind direction) you have to create the xml file and place it yourself. Rod has given a complete guideline for how this is done (and if I can do it, you can too!). Rod has an example that puts 4 of them in different colors and sizes at the PANT Scenery Tester Area ... for your practice.

So I have been practicing making windsocks. I have 3 of them now at the COMING SOON Hang 'Em High (Status 90% complete), and I put one in at Misty's Place. So if you have this huge desire to have a windsock at Misty's Place, you can download the scenery folder again, replacing the old one and you'll have the windsock. About half way down the runway.  If there is a critical place in our scenery where you feel one of these is needed, let me know and I'll put one there for you.

REMINDER: Don't forget to put the Christmas Lights up at Misty's Place ... 'Tis the Season. (Misty's Christmas Scenery).

"FIND" Feature for FAQ Page - Sometimes it can be difficult to find something on the FAQ page. I've put a little reminder at the top of the page right under the A-Z index. You can enter CTRL-F (Windows) or CMD-F (Apple) while on the page, a little box will come up and you can put what you are seeking in the box and it will go right to it.  For instance, if you want to see how to make a windsock, while on FAQ, enter CTRL-F and put "windsock" into the little box. It goes right to the first "windsock" word.  As we add things to the FAQ, we'll be sure to put in more key words to make finding things even easier there.

Fuel Pump Triggers and Out of Order signs

We can now make our fuel pump objects "pump fuel" without turning the location into an official airport. We have many docks with fuel facilities, and now we can make them active working pumps.  This was created by Rod Jackson. You can find out how to "do it" yourself if you look on the FAQ page (enter CTRL-F) and put "fuel" into the box ... it will take you to the discussion and the "how to" file Rod has created.

And for those fuel pumps that don't work, Steve has given us some new objects you'll be getting in an updated library soon ... some great little "out of order" signs for inactive objects. At the new Hang Em High (coming soon) there will be a non-working pump at the upper lodge with an "out of order" sign (see below) and at the lower lodge, a fuel pump that will fill your tank.

Google Earth KMZ file for RTMM - by "Rustam" (Vüqar Quliyev)

Here is an excellent contribution from an RTMM member, "Rustam".  This is a Google Earth KMZ file that lists all of the RTMM locations, and it is "click-able" ... when you click it you can get information for the location right from the RTMM archives. This has almost 700 entries in it, each one taking in a great deal of detail. We are VERY proud to offer this to the folks at RTMM and VERY thankful that "Rustam" has taken the time to create it and share it with all of us.

You can find it on the Here2There page. Look in the upper index for RTMM KMZ file for Google Earth ... click on that and it takes you down to the table (located just above the starting points).

Many thanks for a great contribution.
