MFS2020
« on: December 30, 2020, 01:30:47 PM »
Hello friends, I hope you had a happy Christmas.
A question. Is there a project to update Misty to the new MFS 2020?
Thank you

Happy Holidays, jgisbert!   There is no large update project for RTMM sceneries in progress at this time.  However, a few very nice point sceneries in our coverage area have been created by one of our members, GrizzlyAir.  You can find reference to his work at this forum thread:

https://forum.mistymoorings.com/index.php?topic=5028.0

As one of RTMM's developers, here is my two cents on the reason there has not been an active large-scale update effort by RMM at this time.  Beyond the general "beta" nature of MSFS and the general lack of floatplane aircraft (which I am sure will be coming), the default MSFS Alaska scenery is in terrible shape.   It has not received the improvements from MSFS that most of the rest of the continental US now display. There  is missing terrain detail, low rez elevation detail and whole cities and many airports are just missing (e.g. PAVD.)  There are water elevation conflicts (e.g. walls of water) and incorrectly rendered airfields [e.g. gravel bush airfields that looks like they are in a big city based on an asphalt runway (incorrect) and tons of vehicle traffic on the local roadways].  I was just flying over one lake yesterday and the terrain on both sides showed multiple tears as I approached on almost a continuous basis.

Part of RTMM's success was based on building scenes on top of permanent and refined airport and terrain scenery that didn't change every month.  These regional scenery improvements were major investments and were built by commercial vendors such as Orbx ISAK) and FSAddon (Tongass FSX).  I feel confident that once Alaska is improved with a stable regional offering or offerings from a major commercial supplier (e.g. Orbx) or MSFS themselves that addresses the problems mentioned in the previous paragraph, I would certainly take another overall look at an overall RTMM scenery update.

Hopefully, the creators of MFS will get involved in this matter and Orbx and other collaborators will do their bit.
Happy 2021

Grizzly has most of his add-ons posted on the https://flightsim.to/  site    author "DADGAMETIME".
