Noticed this thread at the ORBX site.  Not P3D savvy but it seems there may be some hoops to jump through concerning the update.

the good issue, is to désinstall P3DV2
and download the new version P3DV2.1
also Sheratti dowload the new FSUIPC for this new version
also make a copie of your CFG for affectations keys
all your installation ADDON  get  wrong .........

that is awesome  :'(  :P

Just install the patch if you not have ADDON   :o
and only the new FSUIPC

Jeff, got it. My son had purchased it for me (Christmas) and his email is in the profile, so they didn't have anything related to my email. We fixed it.  Love the new V2. Now if we can get RTMM over there safely we'll be all set.  The world has some catching up to do .. Plan G? Instant Scenery?  FSDiscover?  I hope they are all working on it.

I'm going to be a little off topic here but it is to look closer at P3D which may suddenly come our way in PFJ.  I got Northern California and put it into P3Dv2.  Frankly, it is "pretty" but for my machine, unstable as hell. I cannot make a complete 20 minute flight without it crashing ... like a whiteout, then the "fatal error" flag.  I've tried Razor, Cleanmem and did a lot of tweaking.  It can be running along at 30 frames per minute ... out over "rural areas" and crash ... not a hint it was coming.  The admin I talked to over at ORBX said he thinks they "Lockheed Martin" have a memory leak on the vegetation or something.  Whatever is causing it makes it NO FUN for me.  I went back and flew the same areas in FSX/DX10 and did just fine for over an hour, not a hint of a problem.

Bottom line.  I don't think they are "quite ready" for prime time. I'm just glad they "tried it" on Northern California and not on our area.  I think they are learning some things ... I'd rather not be the beta!

Here's what I'm running:
Dell Studio XP 8100 X64
Windows 7 Intel(R) Core(TM i7 CPU 8.70@2.93 GHz
Installed Mem 8.00 Avail Mem 12.3 GB
Nvidia GTX570 8GB
PFJ, PNW, SAK, NCA
FSX and P3DV2

And Dex tells me I am clocked "low" for the P3DV2 requirement.  Just wanted folks to "know" the status. And also let them know we are looking ahead at P3D in anticipation of it coming our direction next.  But if you haven't got it yet, you aren't (yet) missing anything spectacular.

I've read that people have overclocked that processor to 3.8 ghz, even claims of 4.0,  but I don't know if it was on air or liquid cooling.

My guess is the guys running this with no problems are using atomic energy for fuel and have a hyperbolic cooling tower out in the driveway to keep it all cooled down.  I just flew into KSFO with the sliders at half USING FSX DX10 and chunked down to 3.5 FPS on approach. If it tears up DX10 and with NIGHT textures, then there's a problem.  (Yes, I bailed and turned on the Misty Forum ... a lot safer!)   I don't think they are caring much about the common man (like me) out here with a scenery addon like this. It is beautiful, but if you can't fly it ... just sayin'....

I took a spin around the San Francisco Bay area this morning.  I had a couple of OOM errors yesterday that caused me to turn down my settings.  Today I flew with those lower settings, but then I turned them up to take pictures.  I stayed on the higher "picture mode" settings after that.  No OOM's yet.  Had a nice flight around the bay.  8)

I'm just puttering around FSX in good ol' DX9 with it locked at 30 FPS and looking at SFO and the Bay Area flying Ants T-28 which is not a simple airplane in its own right.  I have tried clicking the DX10 Preview mode and as far as I'm concerned it is a non event.  Of course the addon aircraft/watercraft have no textures but that is not what I was looking at.  The scenery itself was my primary concern and sorry to say other than a lighter water color there is absolutely no difference is what shows in my sim.  I am attaching two screen shots, one with DX10 mode and the other in standard DX9.  Easy to see which is which but if you need a clue the no textured Hovercraft shot is DX10.

If they click "play" the images will cycle between the two automagically. ;)

You can't just stick a big toe into DX10.  You have to jump in, "Cannonball" style.  ;D

Spud,
As you have yourself have commented on so many times in the past FSX DX10 was never finished, so just checking the box in FSX 'aint gonna cut it. You have to have at least the shaders fixes or the DX10 Fixer to realize DX10.
