Hi Guys!

Steves new DX10 Scenery Fixer version 1.4 is now available for download!

You get it from your downloads page at the FlightSim Store. http://www.flightsimstore.com/

This one includes "Adjusted Shadow Fade".

Previously shadows faded rather sharply with the weather visibility. This is compounded because some weather engines rarely set the visibility over 10nm. The change alters this so that shadow fading only starts as the visibility falls under 3nm.

Also included.... It is now possible to save and restore all the settings made to shaders. As well as assisting in the upgrade process, this allows using different profiles for legacy aircraft for example.

Also more fog light fixes. The fogging of FTX Global lights has been extended to cover all effect style lights

Enjoy!

Hey Neptune & corbu1!

Yes, blown away. Not only does it deliver crisp and concise shadow renditions, but has given a recognizable frame rate increase. Steve is a wizard!

Night flying is out of this world now too! You can see other aircraft lights from miles away. City lights are solid and stunning, and now the starlight/moonlight on oceans is eye popping spectacular!

Got to love it.

Not exactly clear on the question? You want to know my slider settings on FSX or on Steve fixer?

Or you wanted a screenshot of my sim at night?

As for FSX sliders... All my sliders are set to max except "Road Vehicles" are set to 20% and "Airline Traffic" set at 81% traffic density. General Aviation Traffic Density is set to 80%. All other traffic is set to 100%

On the scenery page I turn off/uncheck "Ground Scenery Shadows". Not needed, uses too much CPU for what it does, and it's not accurate. You will still get shadows from mountains with this off.

I also uncheck the "Aircraft casts shadows on the ground" Again, uses too much cpu. But it does look and work great with the Steve fix. I will have to try this again enabled and see if the fix also includes a CPU fix. Because this looks great now and would like to use it. Will let you know my findings once tested more.

Again everything else is set to max on my system. My frame rate is gated at 30. 30 FPS is full H.D. and gives the system more power to rezz scenery and do other operations.

I will post some screen shots of the night scenery this weekend when I have some time to fly.

On theSteve fix, I turn everything on. Except the 8 bit fix. This is not suppose to be on. Only there for testing. Explained by Steve on his Blog: http://stevesfsxanalysis.wordpress.com/2013/12/29/version-1-3-release-news/

I'm just a little disappointed that upgrades to a product already paid for are not free of charge myself. I seriously doubt if I'll shell out another, what, $30 something to fix what would not have been an issue if I just waited to purchase the product. That ain't right. He should step up and make any previous purchases equal to what new consumers are buying. That's the way most software developers work it. I can hear Spud sitting on my shoulder...told ya so. Not sure if he's the guy with the halo or the horns, though. Haha.

The DX10 Fixer upgrades are always free. Go to your account and just redownload the fixer. When you reinstall, enter your account and registration info when prompted. Look at the 3rd topic from the top of this page on how to reinstall:

http://forum.avsim.net/forum/644-the-official-dx10-scenery-fixer-support-forum/

The Fixer is constantly evolving. I've already upgraded about 4 or 5 times now.

Yeah, you misunderstood jsapair. All the updates are free. When Steve says a new update is available, you just log into your account and download the new version free of charge. I too have downloaded every update at no cost.
