Howdy ya'awl,  ;D
Hey Doug, you were talking about IS3 and P3Dv2.  I'm playing around with the idea of object placement "under water".  My Instant Scenery 3 is not installed in P3Dv2, only FSX.  But that's ok.  I placed the objects in FSX, then loaded the BGL file into P3Dv2.  I'm still working out a problem with underwater elevations of objects.  It seems what I type for an elevation is not where it puts it in P3Dv2.  ???

So I've placed various random objects in a semi-vertical column descending to near the bottom.
It works, so far.  They don't go to the elevations I set them at, but they do show up under water, and can be placed wherever you want.  It's a start, eh?  :-\

Jeff,

Something like an old shipwreck would be something to place down there. If they start releasing subs or submersibles we can use to "fly" underneath the surface, having some shipwreck scenery near shore is definitely a cool idea for those that like to explore the depths. Titanic depths would be too much I think. But a couple hundred feet down, with something like a dive boat at the surface, that's believable and now within the realm of possibilities.
Might have to create an RTMM undersea explorers club!

I already have three submersible vehicles.  My Ultralite trike is the best.  But to be more "realistic" I've got my Oscar class submarine and the P3D explorer submersible.

It's not easy to "place" objects under the water.  You'd have to use IS3 in FSX and drop the items from the water surface.  Then open P3D and see where they landed.  I suppose you could construct the scene on top of the surface, and then sink each piece.

All of us "Closet Boaters" will be eager to secretly join the new "RTMM Undersea Explorer's Club".   ???
(the boating threads are pretty quiet, but I see the view counts go up steadily.)   ;)

Hey boaters,
I am loving the new P3Dv2 water!  It's boating season!   ;)

I installed SAK into P3Dv2 and eventually found myself at Halibut cove.  Here's some shots of the Orca whales there.  8)

Very nice, Patrick.  Thanks.

Does it dive deep?  You can make a submersible out of anything, by adding a section to the aircraft.cfg file.

First, make a COPY of the vehicle.  Place it into the "Submersible" folder.
Open the aircraft.cfg file in Notepad.  Rename the vehicle, by adding "S" to the name (for sub).
Be sure to rename all variations in the cfg file, so there are no duplicate craft names.
Find the [General] section in the aircraft.cfg file and change the category from airplane to submersible. (see example below.  Next, copy/paste the [Designspecs] section from the box below, or from your native P3D sub's cfg file.  Change the max speed line to match the vehicle you're applying it to.  Land_height will affect how high or low you are sitting in the water when surfaced.  SternPosition is where the wake or cavitation effects come from.
That's it. ;)
