Autogen.bgl

On the FSX installation disks, how does one find the file, autogen.bgl?  I have looked on all disks including the Acceleration disk and can't identify the file.  I pose this question because some folks are missing autogen objects in some of the sceneries as I was at Nina's.  Since this is covered under the FSX copywrite, we can't put it up for distribution.  How does one fix this?

There are a number of different autogen.bgl file versions so you will need to get the right one.  I know SP1 updated this file and there are other versions as well.  There's a discussion of it in this thread:

Maybe re-installation is the only legal way to do it?

Thanks for the reply and the link.  My problem was corrected by replacing the autogen.bgl file.  It was damaged in some way and some files were missing.  I happened to have a backup of that file but it can't be distributed for copyright reasons.  I am trying to locate it on one of the FSX disk so a person could go to that disk and extract the file to overwrite the bad file.

A big Thank you to Dexter Thomas for helping us find a solution to the missing autogen.bgl files. Here's what you need to do in order to rectify any problems with missing autogen files like the buildings at "Nina's Landing"

On the Acceleration DVD, search for the file scenery8.cab.
Open the cabinet file with winzip etc and look for scenery.global.scenery_autogen.bgl
Copy it to a Temp Folder and Rename it to autogen.bgl.
Copy the renamed file to FSX\Scenery\Global\Scenery and overwrite the existing autogen.bgl

Don't know how this works out for our friends that don't have Acceleration DVD. But maybe it's the same process for FSX pre-Acceleration??  ???

The real credit goes to roger-wilco-66 (Mark) on the SOH forum who pointed me in the right direction.  If at any time, you have a question, put it on the Sim Out House forum and someone will give you the answer.  There's
a lot of folks there who know all the ins and outs of FSX!

I can also highly recommend a little tool called "Everything" - it's a freeware windows search engine by a gent called David Carpenter. www.voidtools.com

Kim pointed me at this, so all I am doing is passing on an experience. But it is a "Wow" experience if you've ever wondered at Windoze search.

Type in a search phrase like "autogen" and it finds all files with "autogen" in the name on your PC (or external drives)
All the best,
