Hey Jeff,
What are you using to get that glass like water? FANTASTIC!

That was right after reapplying my REX textures.  (VFR Serenity theme)

Do you have the FS Water Configurator utility?  That will change your water surfaces "on the fly" to anything from glass to high seas.  Oodles of configurability sliders.  It's a must have.  ;)

I have rebuilt my FSX.cfg file, and have been flying around between Ketchikan and Wrangell for a couple of hours now, in a major thunderstorm.  No glitches yet.   ;)

I'm coming in for a landing.  It's good for now.  No glitches since rebuilding FSX.cfg.  I don't know if it's fixed, but I am gonna watch a movie or something.  I flew into PAKT for a touch and go, then kept going out past the CU Ranch.  If the problem comes up again, I will continue the fight.  Thanks for helping me.

I have the water configurator, but I thought only the lite version (which I don't have), worked with DX10. I'll have to revisit it.

I have the water configurator, but I thought only the lite version (which I don't have), worked with DX10. I'll have to revisit it.

Say it ain't so!  :o  I changed my water from that glassy look to rough waves, and I am in DX10.  What doesn't work?  Yes, I must investigate that allegation as well.  But not right now.  I'm tired from flying all day, and I just want to stare at a movie screen.  I am watching YouTube episodes of "Bush Pilot".  I am on episode #8 tonight.

Taken from the Striking Software webpage for FSWC:Lite and FSWC+:
Quote
FSWC:Lite is a stand-alone, cut down version of FSWC. It features all the enhanced shader abilities of FSWC without any slider controls. It enables the installation of all the main FSWC presets, from "Ocean Rough" to "Glass Water", in a simple, easy to use interface.

As it uses a very simplified interface, it should work on systems that get an error message when trying to run the full FSWC program.

Also, as a special bonus for those using FSX in Direct X 10 mode, there is a special DX10 shader featuring all the new enhancements coming in FSWC+. So finally DX10 users can benefit from FSWC.
. . . and
Quote
FSWC+ is currently in development. It will feature many new controls and features as well as full Direct X 10 compatibility. In addition to the original controls from FSWC 3.15, FSWC+ will also include a new modification to the shader file to enhance the '3D' look of the waves and reflections and new controls including; base texture brightness and diffuse lighting dynamic responce.

FSWC+ will give the user the ability to modify the wave animation effect created by the water bump mapping. Controls will include wave scale, wave height and wave speed. These controls are fully compatible with all 3rd party wave animation maps. You will also be able to control how the bump map effects the reflections with a new reflection distortion control.

In addition to all the new controls, FSWC+ will also give the user more options to refine the look of the sun and moon specular reflections. Controls including specular focus, specular gain and specular blend, will help to create the most realistic specular shine yet seen in a flight simulator.

FSWC+ will feature a DX10 mode with all the new controls from DX9 plus a few extra ones! There will also be compatibility modes for both FSX SP1 and ATI HD cards.

So we have version 3.15 now, and are waiting for FSWC+ to be finished.  ;)

After using this one 42" Panasonic, I've gotten use to the height of the screen.  I can't go back to the squatty, little twenty something monitors, when placed side-by-side.  So, it's the "Wall of FSX" for me.
I was thinking of putting them in a corner, in a semi-circle.  Not sure yet.  Actual setup is probably a month away.  I'm not rushing it.  I've got to rearrange my room yet.  Move the desk to the corner, and clear out a ton of junk.
I am concerned about power consumption and heat dissipation in my little room.  I have a window with a fan, and a door to the outside, and the hallway door to the house is on the opposite side.  It is fall now, so the  air temps will be cooler.  Nothing like it is in Florida though.  You've got to have A/C, eh?

Yep most everyone has Central A/C in Florida.   Power consumption is not a problem for me.  However, I find the heat from my NVidia graphics card on my main system with the TH2GO heats my room more than anything else when I am running all 6 screens and all 3 computers........sometimes I have a celing fan and another fan at the doorway into the room to pull in cool air from the hall.

I wish!  The glitch popped up again just before I shut down last night.  I am flying at Annette Island this morning, and it looks good again.  (so far) ???

Jeff,
It's been ages since they announced FSWC+ and I have to wonder if the project is dead - which is a real shame. And ver 3.15 has been around for a long time now. I'm a little confused with your post; are you saying that using 3.15 you are able to manipulate the waves in DX10? I'm going to try it when my IS3 thumbnail maker gets finished doing it's thing...only 14 more hours to go! Jeesh.

I am anticipating the arrival of 3 42" Viewsonic LED monitors, and already have a "TripleHeadGo" waiting.  I am wigging!!  I hope my room is big enough at 10x10, and I can still get in and out with my swelled head! ;D

Jeff,
... 3*42" Monitors?! ...Wow, that is an amazing set-up you are creating!!!!!

No, I'm not able to change the waves with FSWC in DX10.  I have been trying to, since this issue came up.  No luck.  I also tried the FSWC lite DX10 shader thing, but no sliders with that one so no control.  It did have waves with whitecaps, I think.  Not sure about all that.  It was late.
I have a european multiplayer flight to do right now, so I'll check things out again after that.

Oops, it wasn't "Viewsonic" it was "Visio".  I've looked at a few of them in the past few days.  This is what I got.  I was looking for an LED screen, and thin bezel so I could put three of them together.

My monitors have arrived.   8)  I'm still rubbing my eyes!  Wow!  In my little room, they stretch from wall to wall just perfect.  I hooked up one to each of my two computers temporarily, replacing their current monitors.  The third is just waiting to be hooked up.  ::)

I am still waiting for some adapters (DVI->HDMI) and the wall mounts that are on order.  But I have replaced the plasma screen tv with one of the LEDs, and it is sooooo much better.  Small lettering on gauges is readable now, and images are crisp and clear, and with DX10 too.  It's like getting glasses, for my computer.   ;D

My adapters should be here next weekend, then I can hook up the TripleHead2Go device.

 ;D    8)      ::)    :P  ;D       :o  8)  ::)  ???
