Glacier calving

Don't know how many of you folks have seen this but it's definitely one time when the word 'awesome' is probably inadequate.

In 2008, the calving of Greenland's Ilulissat Glacier was caught on film.  Imagine the whole lower tip of Manhattan breaking off into the sea.  That's a rough estimate as to the size of the event.  Impressive doesn't really cover it.

That's amazing and a bit troubling when you consider just how fast the ice is breaking up.
