What I'm wondering is, how large is your FSX folder? Here's the back-story:
I like having FSX on its own SSD. FSX just runs smoother on a SSD, IMO. (I've read the various forums and know that many say that SSD's offer minimal advantage with FSX, but my experience is that FSX runs much smoother on SSD.) Meanwhile, last spring I loaded FSX on its own 180GB SSD (thinking that 180GB would be plenty of room for expansion if only FSX was on the drive), but I'm now down to around 40GB remaining on the drive. I have EZdok, AccuFeel, 3D Lights, and Plan-G on another drive, but REX is on the FSX drive. I have a relatively few payware planes (Kodiak, BeaverX, Twotter, FR Supercub, Carenado C208, and a freeware Luscombe and Maule) and only Orbx and RTMM scenery (plus Tongass). With Orbx Southern Alaska to be released soon, not to mention Northern Cal, the UK and Europe coming up as well, I know I'm in trouble. I still haven't sprung for New Zealand yet. I can see that the only way to play it safe if I want to continue with FSX on its own SSD is to go with a 512GB drive, and they are still in the neighborhood of $400USD (although they appear to be coming down in price).
So, I'm wondering--how large is your FSX folder and where do you have it installed? How about other components of FSX? Mechanical HDD or SSD?
Thanks,
Ted
