There''s Been a Slight Diversion
« on: February 28, 2024, 04:09:11 PM »
...to my painting plans  8)

This latest addition to the sim really gave me a challenge - 36 separate dds sheets to prepare. Interior and exterior. And then I went and chose my "Signature" livery.

So even though I may not be uploading the textures anywhere in a hurry, I'd like to share som pictures with you guys just to show how huge this five seater is.

All the best,

A cream and green Misty is in the offings...

In fact, I am getting to like this dragonfly thingy quite a bit now. It's fairly aerobatic - try using the burner in vertical! Loops, rolls... It's just so d@mn huge!

Oh poopies! I had forgotten this while I did some for a German Forum. After finishing this I needed a break. what with the interior textures and wings painted I ended up creating an aircraft livery file of 460 Mb (yes, almost half a gribblegit!)

The texture folder has 34 individually created new "ALBD" DDS textures. Took some sorting creating new dirt layers for each sheet and re-colourising the cabin and cockpit lining. When I get back to the Misty Thopter I will have to change the interior to a cream or green colour set.

I haven, forgotten you...

Oh, I have also been "fliying" a fair bit recently too. The A2A comanche is quite tasty to say the least! They've managed to do a really stunning model and paintkit set.

Love the Comanche, I was half owner in one for a spell, greatest plane I ever owned, although only half owner. He went north and I went east , n' that's all I got to say 'bout that. Anyway love what A2A has done with the PA24 and look fwd to what you come what with

Sorry for the ongoing delays... Big bad C is causing health issues. As Granny Weatherwax says, though, "I aten't ded" (yet)

Camera diagnostics and chemo are all in planning - and I am glad they don't need to use an iphone for the video work!! :D

As far as the Comanche goes - I have been discovering a lot of "fun" quirks with the A2A paintkit. Also, the Ornithopter is a huge, ginormous file if I texture paint all available images. 36 sheets at 8192 pixel squared gives stunning LOD, but 400 MB texture folder.  I'll get there in the end.

Praying for positive results with your cancer, been going thru it with the wife. Her's is pancreatic, Went thru 3 months of Chemo to shrink it and then found out it's not operable and the six weeks of radiation and now just keeping an I on it. Hasn't slowed her down much, me not so much I think I'm taking it harder than she. I'll light a few candles for ya' can't hurt

Thanks for your thoughts peoples. I haven't had a final verdict yet and I am waiting on CT scan results to see if it is spreading beyond the liver. But whatever the verdict, I am OK with things. Life itself is the most fatal disease, so even something like cancer doesn't frighten me. Days, weeks, months or years - it's just me and the dog in my life she's 11 1/2, so the only thing I hope for is to survive her. I'll be back on the brushes asap and I also have a few large scale models on the go too - 1/12th scale Porsche Carrera, 1/16th scale tank crew figures...

...not to mention at least three liveries for msfs.

You're right Chris. I've been saying for years "none of us are getting out of this alive. But cancer can be beaten. My late husband beat it, my sister beat it last year. It is much better than 10 or 20 years ago. And it was 25 years ago when my husband had throat cancer.
He was no fun though, he wouldn't let me put him in the refrigerator, to see if he glowed in the dark. (after radiation...) I Wanted him to tell me if the light really goes out when you shut the door, too.
Seriously though, it can be beaten, hang in there, and blessed be.

Thanks for the thoughts all.

CT scan results show no spread beyound the liver - relatively good news I suppose. I have had microwave ablation a while back, but that had failed and the lumps came back so I am going on a chemo course of treatment. TACE if that means anything to you. It's well covered on Google. I could be feeling rather iffy for a few days post treatment. But que sera, sera. I have no regrets at all.

Will drop back occasionally and keep you updated.
