TREES IN THE WATER..BEEN DOWN THIS ROAD BEFORE...
« on: July 30, 2023, 03:38:17 PM »
Hi everyone,

I came across this problem at Beecher Creek while doing MFC 00143.
i have ORBX scenery addons required for RTMM, and understand this is probably a layering issue. But, I am not sure what to do about this.
Sorry cannot post picture, could not get jpg small enough to meet requirements...but, I am guessing we all know what trees in water looks like...:-)

thanks
Sherm

A P3D update (or new version v6) probally would have overwritten the Terrain.cfg file which has to contain the 40 Tongass additional entries.  So check to make sure you have the 40 Terrain.cfg entries in your P3DvX terrain.cfg file.

Next: Orbx Central could have updated and washed away the insertion points that were set which messes up the correct layering.

FTX Top Insertion Point >> Set on RTMM Libs (so Orbx Airports/Regions are below RTMM)

FTX bottom Insertion point >> set on Tongass Lower.  (So Tongass is between Orbx LC and Orbx Airports/Regions.

From Bottom up the scenery library in the sim has to look like this:

Hi Norm, thanks for getting back on this.
I do have all the Tongass files in terrain.cfg properly placed afaik. The last time it was edited was September 7 2022 which is probably when I installed the Tongass scenery.

Checking around for other tree in water issues, Beecher Creek is the only one I have found in a random check of RTMM locations. However, I have discovered that there are no entries within P3D v5.4 for many of it all of the RTMM locations such as ANA3, ANCP, PPP03 ETC. Or are these and other locations found by using map coordinates.
I think I may need to do a complete reinstallation of RTMM.
Do you agree. If so, should I delete everything currently installed and start over using the RTMM v5 package? I hate to admit it, but I am completely confused by some of the instructions. Thanks for taking your time on this...

No problem Sherm..  Leave Tongass as is then.

The RTMM addon for P3Dv5 is easy to reinstall...
Delete the old out..
Download the RTMM Add-on P3Dv5.zip..
Once downloaded, extract the zip and move/copy the "RTMM Add-on (P3Dv5) folder" to your default P3Dv5 add-ons folder.

When your sim starts, Select yes to enable.. .

Re-setup the Orbx Central insertion points. Done, that should do it!

thanks again, Norm. The trees are still in the water at Beecher Creek. Since I am unable to attach a screenshot here I will send to your email.
Otherwise, this is the only such anomaly that I have found. Everything else looks pretty much the same as far as I can tell. Future flights may or may not reveal otherwise...
So it goes...:-)

Sounds good Sherman. Might be a tree setting (if there is one) that might be effecting only Beecher Creek for some reason. If the rest seems fine, wouldn't bother sweating a few trees in the water/lake at Beecher Creek.
Just don't hit them if you're landing there.. they could do some damage to your floaters!!

I don’t think this is the appropriate place to discuss my “floaters” 😉🤣🤣😇😵‍💫
