Fiber Accelerator for FSX
« on: July 07, 2014, 07:06:16 AM »
In the back woods frame rate is usually not a major issue but just wanted to share that this program is very good at gaining some much needed frames in heavy situations.

Has increased my PANC area from 12fps to around 16fps. Doesn't sound like much but on landings it makes a big difference for me.

Not sure if link will work, on stupid iPad atm.

Holy mackerel, $40 for it!  To charge that much, he should have had someone else proofread his product description!  It really shakes my confidence about the programming involved, when so many words are spelled wrong and misused.  I am skeptical.  You get to try a demo of it for 5 sessions of 5 minutes each.  I got a funny feeling about it.  I could be wrong.   :-\

If you're gonna spend $40, put it on P3Dv2 instead.  It's much better than FSX.  ;)

I've read about the product; the developer is from Greece, I believe, thus the strange English and typos. (His company has been in business for a long time.) Also, they've increased the trial period to 5, 1 hr. sessions. I guess that for some it works, and for others it doesn't. I agree,  $40 does seem way too steep for something like this.

FWIW, it's $32 at PCAviator, which is where I bought it from.

I figure for the ~5fps gain in heavy areas, that would cost me at least $350 in a new processor. So I see it as money well spent.

It also has greatly improved my texture draw in time. I use to change to cockpit view and have to wait several seconds before the flat grey textures get filled in. Now its a second or less.

you have the same issus with LOD RADIUS  in FSX

move the slider  middle or off   and the gain FPS  is on and more

or for the most technics

go to FSX.CFG
and change the value LOD RADIUS under [TERRAIN] to find the best value and test

http://forum.avsim.net/topic/261888-lod-radius/

this application it's only good for liner PAYWARE aĆ©rosoft PMD levelD ..etc IFR  long range or middle to finish a flight without crash just before landing on aiport addon complex

for VFR insn't necessary

If you continue down that page, there is a funny entry for March.   ???

Quote from Roy's page:

I have done very little with FS in the past 4 weeks. One small problem was discovered the P3D release of the B-25J. which was quickly corrected. I guess it would not have been discovered by most users, as it concerned the Manual :-) Anyway it was fixed within hours.

Thanks Spud.   ;)

And thanks to Roy for checking the Fiber Accelerator program out for us all.  "Rubbish"!   ;)

With a top configured FSX this "FIBER ACCELERATOR" does absolutely nothing. I bought it and made a serie of test  at EGLL, KJFK and Paris Charles de Gaule, all very crowded airports with lot of traffic (my traffic set to 60%). Result, absolutely no difference. Aicraft used, stock FSX Acceleration arcrafts single and twin props + heavy jet B747 take-off and approach.
By the way, I did not catch what the word FIBER has to do in this joke. Furthermore, considering how FSX is tuned, essentially through its Config file adjustments, I do not see how an external programm could dynamically change these settings while you fly without crashing the program ?

Not that it makes a bit of difference, but I think the term "Fiber" comes from the FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION advanced setting in FSX.cfg, which is an advanced setting that DX10 users use to balance graphics processing speed with the CPU.

That makes sense, Steve. Being an old fiber optics multiplexer tech, when I saw the words Fiber Accelerator it naturally caught my attention. I thought, man, I just need 'fiber to the home' and my fps will be in the Gigabyte range. Hahaha. In the old days we used to break fiber bandwith down to T-1 levels...1.544 MB at -110V DC...and distribute it at that level over copper (Telecomm).  That's ancient history nowadays. Your basic DSL is 3 times that rate now over copper at -48V DC. Amazing how fast the technology has progressed. So this Fiber Accelerator program is basically a .cfg setting changer that your GPU control panel can do for you if you don't know how to edit the .cfg manually. Better to put the money towards ORBX Global or something.
Destroy. If you're running DX10 are you running Steve's DX10 fixer (not the Ualani Steve), and if so have you followed the user manual? Very detailed instructions are included on setting up your GPU and .cfg to match the Fixer settings.
   And Yoland...welcome aboard!!
