ORBX Releases today 7/13/14
« on: July 13, 2014, 12:02:58 PM »
OK ORBX has a freeware airport for Germany, Global Airport Pack 15, the manual for the Europe LC that will be out soon and last but not least a new ORBX Library 140703 out today.

Link to the Release Announcements:

enjoy.

PS:
it is better to start a new thread for new releases than to piggyback onto an old announcement.

Dang, Spud, you're on top of this. I have yet to purchase Global but it is in my immediate future. My question is, will these additions...and the additional airport packs...be included in a new download of Global? I know ORBX is pretty good at including all the latest updates in their most recent downloads but I don't know how inclusive they are on anything not deemed 'critical'. Would I still have to DL these additional packages?

jsapair,
FTX Global will not contain any freeware airport packs.  They will work fine without Global being installed so you can get all 15 packs plus the 3 European packs now.
Global is a replacement of the FSX default textures only.  When you install it there will be an option to backup the FSX Default textures, (DO IT!).  After installing Global and then the latest ORBX Libraries.  FTX Central will no longer show a "Default" mode, but rather, a "Global" mode in place of the old "Default" Icon.
The ORBX Library is continually being updated and each release must be downloaded and installed to have all the current ORBX objects etc.  It is of course a free download.
Other Freeware airports released by ORBX (not the Global Packs which are non-company efforts by users) come with installers and are usually intended to be used in conjunction with the payware scenery region in which the airport resides, so that region should be purchased first.

Thanks, Spud. I actually downloaded freeware NA packs 1-7 earlier but stopped when I noticed 'Global', thinking I needed Global installed first. So I think what you're saying is they will work fine but will reflect default scenery until I install Global. That makes sense but correct me if I'm wrong. I keep my ORBX libraries up to date, thanks to your heads-up notifications mostly :)

FTX global change only textures FSX basics
you can install pack  1 to 15  for free , but before:  switch FTX CENTRAL on FTX GLOBAL  to installation pack airporst free
if you don't have purchase GLOBAL  also you can installe but the environnement textures are FSX native

if you have FTX VECTOR it's the same before installation of packs airports, switch  FTX CENTRAL on FTX GLOBAL

and now in few may be, end july first weeks agust come up FTX OPEN LC EU ....
and just after Norway  landxcape seems like britania colombia  but one level more and new tech détails

Wow, thanks Patrick.  Norway, . . . the other fjords.  Yay!  ;D

So, switch FTX Central to Global before installing the airports.   ;)

Thanks again, Patrick.  I look forward to adding Norway to the collection in August.

But i don't know  if Norway have the same install as FTX: PI AYPY Jacksons International Airport Released

I think the tab : Oceania NA and EU in the future just disappear in FTX CENTRAL  and certainly another interface in there

The freeware NA airport paks are designed around FTX Global textures, but will work with default FSX textures.  As a side, the Global textures offer better autogen placement and also vector street lighting.

I know there is a subforum at ORBX for freeware offerings, but the Paks are mostly done by Neil Hill (an ORBX designer) and now getting some help from others that seem to be getting good training!

Best to switch FTX Central to Default (if you don't already have FTXGlobal installed) or to Global when installing the freeware paks, but my understanding on those is that it really doesn't matter.  You will be switching FTXCentral to "Global" anyway to go visit these airports as they reside outside of the full FTX Regions.
