Great Tomse! Looking forward to your projects and more RTMM offerings as it comes ...and happy holidays! Thanks again  :)

EDIT: By the way, the famous +/- 1,000-mile, annual  Idatirod Trail Dog Sled Race from Anchorage or Fairbanks to Nome in Alaska might also be a interesting project to consider in the future since bushplanes fly supply runs and medical dispatches to the stop houses or stations along the race routes  depicted in that video documentary. It's nice to base our virtual RTMM playground goodies close to the RW or at least inspired by it. Just few more cents..wishing moving dogsled AI scenery objects are available to simulate racing on the trails, then that would be COOL!  8)

Thanks Dieter & Tom! This tourist attraction was among those featured in a Smithsonian video I posted here in RTMM earlier entitled "Alaska's Call of the Wild"...

I had an inkling that this RW iconic bus (though has a tragic history because of what happened to that well-off adventurer McCandless) will be made into a scenery object someday in flightsim  :'( ...and maybe, legendary bush pilot Don Sheldon's mountain house at Ruth Glacier will be next on the pipeline? ;-)

General Discussion / Re: Misty's Place Helicopter

Being one of the rotorheads here, I recall of having requested Doug sometime ago to place a helipad in Misty's Place for the RTMM helis folks but didn't request for that UH-60 Blackhawk. Instead of completely removing a helo there, why not replace that military one with a civilian chopper like a Bell 206 or A-Star 350 which I think are common static objects in FSX/P3D? Also, the current UH-60 is misplaced anyway as it's in the middle of PF20. In the RW, you might observe helo pilots would usually land or park it at the sidelines of an airport due to its unique ability to hover and land in tight, confined spaces twice its main rotor length. The scenery developers here would know more about in correcting or editing the scenario. Just my opinion. Thanks!  ;)

Thanks for the informative maps spud!  ;) Glad you pointed out that there's an OZx NA manual. Looks like bulk of OZx's NA airports are in WA state. I would assume the four OZx NA files I downloaded and posted earlier are all that's needed to properly install it with the newer versions on top right?

Hi guys,

Like jsapair, I'm also interested in installing and using the OZx freeware downloadables in order to use for NA only to hopefully enhance and/or supplement what I already have from RTMM. However, I haven't used any of OZx's scenery stuff or objects before. It might be better to throw this question/s in the OZx forums but since I'm new there and been lurking here for a while now, I'd like to get some advise (if it's not too much to ask  :-[) from you learned ones who have had experience installing and using their scenery packages other than those from RTMM. Based on what was discussed in this and the other thread started by Spud, I downloaded from he Ozx site about 4 ZIP files which all contain executable installers but no Read Me or instructions included in each:

1. Are these all the files needed in order to properly and completely install the OZx NA scenery and objects? If not, what else is needed to be installed?

2. What is the proper order of installing these 4 in the FSX scenery library and in relation with RTMM files and other custom files in the Addon Scenery folder?

3. Are there maps or guides which areas the OZx NA scenery covers? How about CSV for the POIs like those Dieter has made?

Again, any help and guidance appreciated. Thanks a lot!

There are currently several options for online MP depending on your flightsim platform. In terms of number of users in the MS FSX descendancy, FSX-Steam Edition leads the pack followed by FSX boxed, then P3D based on its default MP.

For voice comms, Team Speak 3 is the most popular among gamers (flightsimmers included) and some use the freeware Discord. You can look up who's online in TS3 using TSViewer. For cross-platform MP, I have tried using DAFSIM (server/client-based, supports FSX boxed/FSX-SE, P3D & XP, stable, bit complicated to set-up, mostly European VAs use it), FSHost (client/server based, supports FS2002/FS2004, FSXboxed, FSX-SE & P3D, easy to set up, occasionally jittery/laggy depending on latency/connection) and JoinFS (peer-to-peer, supports 3 platforms except XP, lightweight to setup, newly developed). There's also FSOpen server for FSX boxed legacy MP replacement of the old GameSpy. There may be others. Just Google these up. There's usually related info online.

By the way,  I read a while back in AVSIM that the FSCloud does not support choppers yet, can anybody confirm if this is still the case with its latest version? I can't seem to find newer info about it. Thanks!

Looks like the force is strong in RTMM as it goes through its bushflying "middle school" phase. Looking forward to getting even better until H.S. and beyond... Happy 6th anniversary RTMM , to the awesome support and development team behind the scenes and of course, the bushpilots braving the northwestern American frontier!  8) 8) 8)

Wait until you taste the seasonal specials during your next stop at Misty's Bar, if you haven't. The grilled halibut sandwiches and Alaskan calamari rings are to die for and addictive too..virtually!  ;D :o :P

Glad you guys enjoyed it too.. :)

But I flew over and can't find in FSX either the Sheldon Mountain House @ Ruth Glacier near Mt. Denali, AK  (62°58'02.4"N 150°44'55.6"W) or McCandless's abandoned Magic Bus 142 @ Stampede Trail in Healy, AK (63°52’6.26″N149°46’9.46″W) which are iconic tourist attractions in the RW as narrated in the documentary, huh!  Maybe some scenery developer or hobbyist will come up with it someday.. :-\

Sorry Marc. :-[ Didn't know said video may be geo-restricted at your location. Unless you use a VPN or proxy service, try Googling a similar title and maybe you can view it from another video hosting site that is accessible from your country. I'm sure there are similar videos about Alaska and it's notable history. I just shared it since some RTMMers may be interested to know more about the RW counterpart and inspiration of our vast virtual playground... 8)

Thought of sharing a phenomenal 52-min. aerial documentary from the authoritative Smithsonian channel if it hasn't been posted here. Very informative and briefly highlights the last frontier's history, geography, wildlife and events like the popular Idatirod race and for those who don't know the legendary bush pilot Don Sheldon, survivalist Chris McCandless or the "Idatirod Air Force", among others.  Sit back and relax.. :)
