General Discussion / What scenery is this from..?
« on: June 03, 2016, 04:03:04 AM »
Hello Chaps,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out? I have installed RTMM scenery and have this fuel station pop up in my copy of FTX CZST?

Which scenery folder does it belong to that I may remove it please?

I thought it was from C.I.R.P. but it does not vanish when I untick C.I.R.P. from my scenery library???

Cheers,
Tim

Hi Timmy,
The answer is simple.  You can make an addon scenery folder anywhere you want.  Mine is on my "M:" drive, while my sim is on the "P:" drive.  My directory looks like ...

M:\Lockheed Martin P3Dv3
      - \addon scenery
      - - \Return to Misty Moorings
      - - - - \(first RTMM scenery folder)
      - - - - - - \scenery
      - - - - - - \texture
      - - - - \(next RTMM scenery folder)
      - - - - - - \scenery
      - - - - - - \texture

Just navigate to your new directory location when adding scenery to your sim's scenery library.   ;)

When I migrated to the new P3D, I just copied my entire addon scenery folder from where it was, into the M: drive (inside a "Lockheed Martin P3Dv3" folder so I could find it later).  Then I rebuilt my new scenery library from the bottom up, using that new location.

Thank you Jeff.  So can I just point P3D to the "Addon Scenery" folder in FSX then???

Cheers,
Tim.

Hello Chaps,

I have a very silly question for you... How does one go about adding RTMM scenery to P3Dv3.2 when there is no "addon scenery" file in the P3Dv3 folder?

I have spent the last few weeks just installing all of my FTX scenery and it has its own installers. So now I am ready to install RTMM, but to manually install add-on's....?  I am a little lost?

I feel very stupid but if someone could please point me in the correct direction, that would be greatly appreciated.

Slightly  Embarrassed,
Tim... :-[

The key is to read the RTMM FAQ section under Terrain Problem - Trees in Water - Tongass X...it has a link that gives you the backup block as well as a very specific set of instructions to do the install.

Rod

Thank you Rod.  I will look into that too if I have the tree issue? I will have to get Tongass Fjords working first.

Cheers,
Tim.

"Without Issues" doesn't mean just a simple install.  It's possible to make it work "without issues".

It a lot more complicated than a simple install.  Read this thread for the procedures.

Thank you very much Spud. I will look into that.

DX10 and Prepar3D Discussions / Installing Tongass Fjords into P3Dv3...!?
« on: February 29, 2016, 02:41:02 AM »
Hello chaps,

I read in another thread on this forum that Tongass Fjords can be installed into P3Dv3 with out issue...!?  Guess what? Mine does not work.

I had run the install.exe and directed the install to C:/Program Files (x86)/ Lockheed Martin/ Prepar3D v3.

I now have an entry C:/Program Files (x86)/ Lockheed Martin/ Prepar3D v3/ FSAddon/ Tongass_Fjords.  But the scenery does not show when I load a flight at PASI?

Could someone please let me know where I have gone wrong? :-\

Kind Regards,
Tim.

My question -if I may- can I just drag my "Misty Moorings" scenery files over to the P3Dv3 "addon Scenery" folder or do I have to go through the whole "one by one" install again?

Hi Tim,
I'd say the answer to both those questions is yes.  First, drag/drop your folder to the P3d directory.  Then, rebuild your scenery library in P3D, pointing to those folders. One by one. Start at the bottom, with the Z's, etc. and go up.  ;)

Yes, the RTMM scenery is compatible with P3D.   8)

Thank you Jeff. I will get onto that ASAP.

DX10 and Prepar3D Discussions / Misty Moorings from FSX to P3Dv3...!?

Hello Chaps,

I have finally succumbed and purchased P3Dv3..stright from FSX. ;)  Now I have the task of installing my stuff into P3Dv3. :o

My question -if I may- can I just drag my "Misty Moorings" scenery files over to the P3Dv3 "addon Scenery" folder or do I have to go through the whole "one by one" install again?

Also does all the Misty Moorings scenery work in P3Dv3 without any issues?

Any easy and helpful tips are much appreciated.

Regards,
Tim...

Hello Chaps,

I have found a discrepancy between two "AI Boats" aircraft.cfg files and their instructions?  Maybe its correct I just do not know which one to use??

I was loading in the "Halibut Cove" scenery and was going through all of its contents and when it came to its "Halibut Cove AI Boats" instructions it explained to add and change some things to the Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Boats\AI_Vessel_TF_Fishing_Boat_FSX\aircraft.cfg file.

The [LIGHTS] and [EFFECTS] were changed as was two entries added for vessels as instructed.....see the two screen shots below

Now when I went to install the "Hollis Habour (v1.0) AI Boats" the instructions are written as this....

So when I read this "aircraft.cfg" file it is totally different to the Halibut Cove one that I have just amended as per instructions...??  See below.

Which one is correct and thus to use so the AI Boats work? :-\

Kind Regards,
Tim...

Tim,
When you get the basics of the Scenery Config Editor under your belt (which are easy), here's a short video that demonstrates some slightly advanced and very useful options.

Hi Steve,

Thanks again for your help.  You are a legend! Does this Scenery Config Editor play havoc with FTX Central V2 at all?  Or is so you can just set up your scenery library within FSX?

Cheers,
Tim.

Tim,
here is a link to setting up RTMM files/libraries.  Note that in the picture of how and where to place Libraries and files that the number 3 shows old RTMM library names instead of the new names you download from that same page but the libraries are placed in the FSX\Addon Scenery folder.
The RTMM files are placed in a new folder you make (...FSX\Addon Scenery\Misty Moorings\Aiken Camp etc. etc.

Thanks again guys for all of your help and will get onto it ASAP so I can start enjoying your incredible contribution again.

Happy Flying. ;D

Hi Chaps,

YES!!  I must have a look and get into this "Scenery Configurator Editor" that ualani suggested and that you all recommend.

Thank you again for the warm reception and the "above and beyond" help.

Kind Regards Always,
Tim..

Eureka!!! ;D

I have it all sorted gentlemen.

I was under the impression that it would all work under the "Misty Moorings" folder?  But thanks to stiletto2 and jeff3163 for pointing me in the correct direction.

I actually have to enter each one individually...

Thank you again to all whom have helped me out with this pickle.  It is much appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Tim...

[Ninja'd by Steve  ::)]

Hi Tim,
The flightsim looks for "bgl" files in each of the different folder's "scenery" subfolders.   So you need to choose each location's folder individually and add it to the FSX scenery library.  It is like this:

- Addon Scenery
- - Misty Moorings
- - - Annette Island
- - - - scenery
- - - Bear Observatory
- - - - scenery

Don't choose the "Misty Moorings" folder.  Choose the Annette Island folder, then follow fsx insertion instructions for the scenery library, as described above.  Next, choose the Bear Observatory folder, etc.  . . .   (I haven't used FSX in a while now, and memory fades.)  :P

Thank you jeff3163,

I will give your method a go.  I will report back.

Cheers,
Tim...
